Hello Puppets! VR
Wishlist new Hello Puppets game!
the Game“HELLO PUPPETS!” is a horror-comedy adventure that turns your hand into a living, talking puppet named Scout. Years ago, a bad Sesame Street knock-off called “Mortimer’s Handeemen” was canceled and forgotten, but the puppets from the show have come to life, they’re pure evil, and they have plans for you. Your only chance of escape is the somewhat-less-evil Scout. Work with Scout to escape the evil Handeemen puppets before it’s too late!
In 1986, a fire destroyed the studio where “Mortimer’s Handeemen,” a failing children’s show starring hand puppets, was filmed. Eight people died, including the show’s creator. Ever since, rumors have swirled that the burnt-out shell of a warehouse was haunted. You play as a college reporter who broke in to see if the rumors were true. You’re about to get more than you bargained for.
“Hello Puppets!” is an immersive VR horror game with a twist: stuck on one of your hands is a sarcastic, foul-mouthed sentient puppet named Scout. Scout isn’t your usual companion character: she doesn’t like you and you don’t like her, but you’ll have to work together to escape the evil cast of “Mortimer’s Handeemen,” brought to life by a magical spell gone wrong. You’re on the run from psychotic puppets, and your only friend is a puppet who is, by her own account, “slightly less evil.”
Features:
- Unique horror-meets-comedy tone. Quirky characters and Scout’s foul-mouthed sarcasm will put a smile on your face, right before an evil puppet jumps out of the dark at you and turns it into a scream!
- Scout is more than a bland companion character, she’s alive, and you can interact with her using revolutionary mechanics only possible in VR. She remembers how you treat her, and reacts differently to situations based on what she thinks of you.
- Complex, challenging puzzles and pop out scares keep you on your toes. The game alternates between high-intensity scares and fun VR puzzles that will test your ability to work together with Scout.
- ”Puppet Mode” lets you transform into Scout and see the entire world from a radically different perspective. Use “Puppet Mode” to solve puzzles, escape enemies and learn secrets about the world of “Hello Puppets!”
- Rich lore hidden throughout the world, telling a horrifying and darkly comic story. “Hello Puppets!” is filled with secrets that will enrich and amplify the complex story of the game.

While it took a little under 2 hours to finish, Hello Puppets was pretty good. The puzzles were kind of simple but some of the scares got me. Scout (your puppet) is aware of how messed up the situations get and has funny comments on it. But you can also miss what she's saying if you don't physically stop to listen. It's a good short spooky game to show to friends (or play alone at 3 am like I did) and I would buy the sequel.

Hello Puppets! is a wild mix of horror and dark comedy that caught me completely off guard. From the moment I stepped into the abandoned puppet studio, I knew I was in for something unique. The eerie atmosphere, unsettling puppet designs, and creepy backstory set the stage for a genuinely tense experience—but then there’s Scout, the foul-mouthed, sarcastic puppet sewn onto my hand, who somehow manages to make everything both hilarious and terrifying at the same time.
The game doesn’t reinvent VR mechanics, but it does a great job of keeping things engaging. The puzzles are straightforward but fun, and the interactions with Scout add an extra layer of immersion. The way she reacts to my movements and decisions makes her feel like a real character rather than just a gimmick.
The horror elements are well-executed, with some solid jump scares and an ever-present feeling of being watched. The dark corridors, creepy puppet enemies, and unsettling story all contribute to a genuinely eerie experience. But what really makes Hello Puppets! stand out is its humor. Scout’s constant commentary is sharp, witty, and often downright ridiculous, making even the scariest moments feel strangely entertaining.
If there’s one downside, it’s that the game is pretty short. I found myself wishing for more levels, more interactions, and more time with Scout. But even with its brief runtime, Hello Puppets! delivers a memorable experience that blends horror and comedy in a way few games do. If you’re looking for something creepy, funny, and totally bizarre, this is definitely worth checking out.

A little short and janky but otherwise one of the best uses of VR in a game, ever. The conceit that there's a talking puppet companion on your hand at all times is fantastic and makes the whole game hugely memorable - especially as Scout is a fantastic character.
Negatives include puzzle solutions sometimes not being signposted well, a lack of significant settings, and the save system not being clear (it autosaves often and you reload by putting the puppet on your hand). Plus, it's way too short considering how much lore they leave on the table. Roll on a VR sequel!
