Developers took Internet logic from cat memes and turned it into a solid puzzle game with physics elements. It reminds me of the more demanding version of “Cut the rope”- aside from some brain work you will need your dexterity quite a few times. It has a nice twist to a typical puzzle game with two characters having different movesets because in Cato you can combine those characters to unlock extra ability. Each of the worlds introduces some new tools and obstacles so it doesn't make the game stale but puzzles become easier after W03 in my opinion. My favorite part was finding hidden paths to secret sections as they can be challenging to find. There are also boss fights here that are really clever and fit the game perfectly.
Graphics are nice, music suits the game although if you will get stuck somewhere it repeating tune can get a little bit annoying. Sounds are cool and I just love the sound of spinning as it reminds me and old toy from my childhood. Story is kinda there but it’s a bit vague aside from “main objective”.
I really recommend this one.
Good to know (no spoilers):
- It took me around 15h to reach 100% without the guides
- Works good on Steam Deck although it’s 3D pretending to be 2D so it will eat battery faster than you expect
- Dexterity and timing is required so if you looking form slower puzzler it might not be it

Clever mechanics, tight controls and brain-teasing levels make for an excellent puzzle game in CATO. The presentation is also top notch for the vibe/atmosphere the game is going for, with satisfying audio and cute, pixelated graphics of the cat, toast, levels and everything in between.
Each world, contained of ~28 levels offers a new mechanic for you to wrap your head around. Each mechanic is gently introduced and eventually will test your problem-solving skills in a refreshing way. There are even some levels in here that change the formula up for a bit of fun.
One of the best indie/small dev team puzzle games I have played to date. Highly recommended!

Cato is an obvious play at the myths that cats always land on their feet and toast always lands on its buttered side. Together this makes for an interesting anti-gravity game mechanic that, joined with exceptional level design, results in interesting puzzles to overcome. The majority of the levels are on the easier side, especially if you are not new to puzzle platformers, but beginning with world 3 there are quite some brain teasers that challenge your skills but not in a frustrating way.
If you love cats and adore this art style that is a mix of 3d and pixel art I can definitely recommend giving this game a shot.

A nice little puzzle game, great for two players - one person plays the cat, the other one plays the toast (via Remote Play Steam and selecting 2 players in the control menu). The controls work well and there is no ping in Remote Play. The movement mechanics of these two characters are different. The cat can walk back and forth and climb some walls, the toast jumps. There are also several types of buttons that characters can interact with (each character has its own buttons). If they united, the ability to fly appears. The solving puzzles gameplay depends on this. The puzzles are not very complex and are intuitive. Highly recommended for those looking to spend an evening or two in a co-op, relaxing game.

Clever and fresh puzzle game that forces you to think with two seperate character's unique movement sets. Thankfully not too difficult with a gentle curve, very pleasing visuals and soundeffects as well. My only complaint is that there is not enough variety in the music. The music that exists is nice, but that doesn't mean I want to hear it in an endless loop for an hour.

This is the most adorable and hilarious game I have seen in a while. The game play is fun and compelling, too. The special mechanics of toast / cat / toast+cat really make for some fun silly puzzles.

I don't understand what's going on in this game, story-wise. The story is as absurd as the central premise, which is entriely based on an old joke. And that's fine. Sometimes you don't have to understand something to enjoy it.
The main part of the game is a few dozen puzzles, which range from "basically they solve themselves" to "gotta step back for a bit, and maybe the solution will come to me". The easier ones feel like you're exploring the insides of a weird machine. The harder ones tickle the brain just the right way.
There's also the arcade component, and some solutions rely on precise timing. Mercifully, the game doesn't make you restart everyting, and only sets you back by a few moves at a time. It can be a bit frustrating, but stops short of becoming an annoyance.
On top of that there are cute, catroony, pixelladed graphics, the "antigravity mode" is surprisingly satisfying to use, and one of the two characters is a cat.
(the other is a talking toast, and they're apparently on a space ship and have run out of milk; like I said, I don't understand what's going on)
