Heart&Slash is a 3D brawler roguelike robot love story set in a world where machines are all that remains from human civilization.
You play as Heart, a sentient robot fighting to escape the grip of the evil and all seeing machine QuAsSy (Quality Assurance Systems). But make no mistake, Heart&Slash is no walk in the park. Every death is permanent and means a new randomly generated level for you to start over with a different set of weapons and items you can use, new enemies to fight and secrets to explore. Heart&Slash offers players something new and challenging because it is not about mastering one system, rather adapting to what is provided and making the most of it.

A very charming heart hack & slash roguelike. Though very short, it kept me well entertained for most of my playtime, and the gameplay has enough variety to it that makes repeated runs feel very different. It does definitely have a learning curve to it, but altogether not a terribly difficult game.

I stumbled across this game while browsing the web for games to play on Linux. After playing it for months I decided to buy it, and have no regrets. It's the kind of game you get an itch for, if it fits your style. Fast pace, requiring reflexes, and thinking skills to be any good at. The wide variety of equipment that changes the style of your game with each run is unique, and has its own learning curve. I don't even know what to compare the combat mechanics to. The easiest I can think of is that of Assassins Creed; learn your enemies attacks, adjust your attacks accordingly. The main differing points, however, is the speed, and weapons.
If you like a challenge, with a decent story line (that I found difficult to advance before I understood there was a story), and attacking robots for hours on end sounds like fun, this game is or you.

tl;dr: I wouldn't suggest paying 5$ or more for it. And don't expect to play it for more than one day, but it's pretty neat to play for a full session.
Positives
Truly diverse movesets, meaning heavy customization. Lots of weapons! You can even switch them on the fly!!
BUT, some are inferior to others, and the game does not give them out equally (oh boi, another shield at the start...)
And a nitpick, you can do only one attack midair so you cannot style switch for that D E P T H!
Artstyle is really good.
BUT, level 2 *exists*, which takes that to the trash (except robocops, robocops good)
OST is fitting so much with the game's themes. Truly wholesome playing the game.
BUT, some rooms suddenly stop the music, putting the game's immersion to the trash.
From silent platforming of 1 minute reaching the top of the game (city tree), to turning the game to outright horror genre (That spooky train station, because the game is so wholesome yet bizzare, it felt very unnerving)
Negatives
Bosses made my enjoyment robotic. Aside of D-BOSS or whatever he is called, the rest are weird. One fucks with your camera and hitboxes (level 1). Both level 2 bosses are gimmicky af, which makes them not fun after first fight (the police bot was pretty fun), and final boss is also a gimmick, but at least it's not as bad as level 2's.
Some minor collision bugs here and there, but at least I never took damage because of them, they really are edge-case scenarios.
When talking to a "character" (3 times per run), you gotta wait 4 seconds, that's very annoying.
^Slow motion happens when you kill a challenge room, pretty annoying after a point.
^Entering a challenge room, takes away control of your character for a second fml
There are better 3D action games to play. Godhand and Dark Souls games come to mind. But if you find it cheap, do give it a try, it is unique for sure <3

Fun game that should be played with a controller. Full of glitches and bugs that straight up ruin the game sometimes. The game is still fun anyway. Soundtrack is fantastic some times and other times and boring.
I also paid 0,53€ for the game because it was on like 95% sale so no complaints from me.

One of the best gaming experiences if had this year. This game is way more than worth it. One of the best rogue like equipment systems I've played. I love how it feels to combo between your weapons. Upgrading your body with new parts is cool and the ability to use experience to upgrade your weapons, character, and body on the fly makes for an extremely compelling system. I thought that being able to choose which boss you fight was really cool because you get to pick your battles depending on your equipment. My only complaints are that sometimes textures would overlap and bug out, some time my player would continue moving even after i let go of the control stick(mainly on subtle movements), and that there isn't enough content. I think this game would be perfect if it maybe had 3 potential bosses per area and then maybe an extra level. I adore this game it is a gem.
