Defy the god of the dead as you hack and slash out of the Underworld in this rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go. A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that's been core to Supergiant's games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

I didn't expect much from this game to be honest, however lots of positive reviews and awards the game earned eventually made me buy it for Switch. And it turned out to be very impressive, great replayability achieved with a deep game design and combat mechanics, while also followed by an interesting mythology-based story. I played the game about 150+ times, on various difficulty levels, and almost every run was different in a way. Also important thing - it's best to play with a joystick. Highly recommended!

To anyone on the fence, just get it. You will NOT be disappointed. Personally, I've never been into the roguelike games, as it gets too boring too quick. But Hades is truly special. Amazing voice acting, great animations, beautiful art style and music. I had a really good time with Hades and I can see myself coming back to it on my deck every now and then because new runs get quickly addicting.

Genuinely one of the best games I've ever played in my life, and I've been gaming for 25 years. The attention to detail that SGG put into this game is absolutely phenomenal. The art and character writing is evocative and insightful. The gameplay feels SO crisp and smooth after a little bit of a learning curve.
The replayability ... I have >5500 hours at time of this review, I launched and streamed without steam for around 1100 hours. If that doesn't say replayability I don't know what to tell you. It's a glorious framework for self improvement and growth if you employ the right mindset.
Buy this game. You won't regret it.

Hades | Perfect Game Review
(100% Completion at 72 Hours)
I picked up Hades because fans of the rogue-lite subgenre wouldn’t shut up about how top-tier it is. Now I’m one of them, raving about this brilliant escape simulator where dying is just part of the journey. Plus, I’ve always been a sucker for Greek mythology, so this game was basically irresistible.
Gameplay: With many weapons, keepsakes, and boons offering diverse playstyles and synergies, you could be dashing through enemies with twin fists one playthrough, and desperately kiting a room with an automatic rifle the next. No matter how your run plays out, this highly satisfying, fast-paced rogue-lite will pull you back for more. ★★★★★
Graphics: The game presents a visual feast worthy of the gods. From the molten glow of Asphodel to the scenic paradise of Elysium, every detail bursts with colour and personality. And let’s be real—everyone in this game is unfairly attractive (even Skelly, somehow). ★★★★★
Sound: The music in Hades contains a variety of blood-pumping battle themes and soothing melodies, and the voice acting is equally stellar, bringing every character to life with charm and personality. That said, in a fast-paced rogue-lite, there comes a point where you might start mashing through paragraphs of dialogue just to get back to the action. ★★★★☆
Story: The witty, character-driven storytelling in Hades keeps things engaging, and watching Zagreus’ many relationships evolve is just as fun as battling through the Underworld. However, the narrative doesn’t quite reach the level of high-stakes drama or thought-provoking themes found in other story-driven games. ★★★★☆
Replayability: Just like any decent rogue-lite game, replayability in Hades is near-infinite. Between various builds, difficulty modifiers, and side quests, the game makes sure there’s always something new to try. ★★★★★
Final Thoughts: If you’re like me and obsessed with Greek mythology, Hades is a must-play as it brings the gods to life with stellar voice acting and gorgeous visuals. Whether you’re tearing through enemies with an absurd build or getting roasted by Hades (the god of the dead) for the hundredth time, Hades (the game) is a hellishly addictive experience you won’t want to put down.
Overall Rating: 9/10, would defy the god of the dead and then die again, and again, and again…

Hades stands not only as the finest, most well-crafted game from the exceedingly talented developers at Supergiant but as one of the pinnacles of the genre.
If you never looked at rogue-likes seriously before due to differences in personal tastes and what you believe that they represent, this might be the very title to change your mind.
Live. Die. Repeat.

The best roguelike ever made, hands-down. Hades adds an entirely unique spin on the genre by having every single run enhance and progress everything around you. They enhance the characters, improve relationships, add depth to the history of the world, progress the story, gives you the ability to change and improve the abilities of your character, and modify the aesthetic of your House. The story is great, giving interesting interpretations of the entire Greek Pantheon and many connected mythological figures. It was a joy to speak to every character, and the dialogue is wonderfully written.
As with most roguelikes, the end is never the end. Hades has post-game content, post-post-game content, and post-post-post-game content. Even after you completely drain the story dry, there are hundreds of unique dialogue options still to be found from side content, missions, relationships, and upgrades. It took me 400 hours to 100% this game, so you will not run out of things to do for a very long time.
The roguelike combat itself is great. It feels very intuitive and smooth, and all of the different combinations of powers, weapons, and boons allow for each run to feel entirely unique. The whole game is masterfully crafted, both in gameplay and story. A must-play for any roguelike fan.

My new favorite game for a few reasons, but if you're not going to read all of this, I hope you read this part:
This is the healthiest game I've ever played. If you feel like you have a problem spending too much time playing video games, Hades will change your life, and I'm not exaggerating. An individual session usually takes me 45m-1hr, and after that, I've reached a satisfying end and can put the game down to do something else, unlike some other games that encourage you to keep playing until you can't justify it anymore. Hades, and Supergiant Games, changed the way that I think about gaming and the relationship it has with my life, giving me the push I needed to finally be that more-productive person I've always wanted to be. It might be a little cringey, but thank you: You've gifted me a better life.
Some other reasons you should buy this game:
1.) The characters are all super charming, the art style is appealing, the voice acting is beautiful, there's *so much* entertaining dialogue (to the point where I'm shocked they thought to include so much. It makes the game feel so alive for literally 100 hours, maybe even more, I haven't found out yet.), all of which comes together for a story that isn't only interesting, but feels so *real*.
2.) The difficulty curve is literally perfect. If you've never played a video game before, I think you can still figure out some of the earliest challenges. If you love the challenge, the most difficult thing to do in the game wasn't even humanly possible up until a few months ago (If I'm not mistaken, which I could be.). And of course, there's something there for every single person between those extremes.
3.) Between all of the QoL features, the wide range in difficulty, the snappy combat system, the boss fights, the buildcrafting, and the general feel of the game (including the aforementioned art design & characters), you can tell that Hades was made by very talented game designers who had a lot of passion for the thing that they created.
My only regret with this game is that I didn't try it sooner. I'm here to tell you that every great thing you've heard about this game is true, and it's time to play it for yourself.
