GROUND-UNBOUND
GROUND-UNBOUND
Is a procedurally generated high-intensity movement shooter with a retro wave art style. It features roguelike mechanics with several skills, guns and abilities to play with, including a variety of enemy types to shoot at. It was originally made by me, solo, in the 7-day BigFry game jam, in Unreal Engine 4, this version is the expanded and overhauled version, featuring more content.
Roguelike
This is a roguelike, so be prepared for the usual, procedurally generated levels, stacks of enemies, and perma-death, no surprises here, except for the fact that to progress, you must take a leap of faith of the edge of the world.
Guns
Use a range of satisfyingly visceral guns to eliminate zombies that drop like a sack of potatoes to your bullets, from SMG’s to LMG’s, ARS, and more, you’re sure to find a gun that will suit your play style.
Enemies
Fight several enemy types, all requiring a different strategy to take on, flying, shooting, sprinting and even exploding, you’ll need to keep your wits about you.
Abilities
Purchase and use several unique abilities to assist your fight, each catering to a different play style, whether or not ability is useful, is up to you, chain abilities together using secondary to further cater your gameplay.
Skills
Increase your damage, move speed, jump height, and health to become a walking tank, speed demon, pure damage or any other combination.
Progression
Finely balance your spending across different chests, upgrading your skills is as important as trying a new gun or buying a new ability, make sure to prioritise correctly, as being too weak in an area could cause your death.

Bottom line up front: I'm recommending this to be supportive, however the game is only meh and needs some work.
I played this game for a little under an hour and a half and that's really all you need to know whats what with it. There's not much to talk about really, which is one of the bigger issues I have. I'll break it all down into bullets for ease of reading:
- Needs more. More variety in level generation, more level in the levels, more enemy types, etc.
- One of the biggest things I need to see is some sorta fix on the damn recoil. I have to drag my mouse off of my desk in order to shoot any weapon and keep on target.
- AI used to have really bad problems with pathing, but now it's just medium bad problems with pathing.
- At higher stages, you'll experience serious frame rate loss because of the amount of enemies generated.
- This game would benefit from an increase in difficulty. Once you get passed like wave 5 there's no hint of stress on the player, and before that its only minor.
- Music needs more variety. A thirty minute soundtrack gets very tired very quickly.
- General polish things. Weapon animations are a good start, there are big things like the reload just being you lowering your weapon for an arbitrated amount of time, and small things like the bolt not actually cycling on the AKM as you fire it.
- More upgrades or abilities, maybe something like a revive if difficulty ends up increasing, or a faster reload upgrade. Quality of life things that could be in the game to provide another layer of depth the game can adjust or require the player to account for.
All in all, I like the visual style, and the general approach toward the gameplay, as minimal as it is. I didn't hate the time I spent playing it, but I didn't fall in love with it either. For a game originally made in 3 weeks, I'd say its great! Yet, for a game being sold for $10? Not so much. It's worth $5 right now. Definitely wait for a sale if you really want it. That said, I'm going to keep my eye on this one for any updates it gets to see if my review would warranted editing.

An absolutely delightful experience. It was my ultimate pleasure playing and testing this game for the marvellous developer Frinky, whom is a very talented individual. I profoundly enjoyed playing this game.

Bought this game mainly to support the dev's but I have to say it is pretty okay-ish. I mean it is not really polished and has some really big flaws like the ballancing of some upgrades. But it is fun. I liked it. So if you buy it don't expect that much. It is fun but it can get boring pretty quick. But for the price it is good. So if you are an FPS/Roguelike fan, this might be something for you.
Good game.

its fun (btw if u don't turn on the weak wrist setting every gun will have uncontrollable recoil)
update I tried to change my sensitivity and now I can't look around so I'm refunding. It is still fun if this doesn't happen to you

Its fun for the first few runs bit it does get kind of stale. I'd still say its a good pickup for 5$. and with the direction the devs seem to be taking it i have high hopes for this game.
