Graveyard Architect
Graveyard Architect
Gameplay in Graveyard Architect is divided into 2 stages. The first one (day) is based on building a cemetery, decorating it, and burying the dead. The second, night stage is a punishment for the lack of diligence during the day, the angry inhabitants of the cemetery want to take revenge on you.
DAY
In the daytime phase of the game, you must complete the received orders and bury the properly delivered dead. Additionally, you can decorate your cemetery to provide them with a dignified rest, but not only that. Your task is also to obstruct the movement of potentially rebellious dead so that they have trouble getting to you in the moment of rebellion.
NIGHT
When night comes, the (un)dead will punish you for your incompetence and rise from their graves. It will be caused by insufficient decorations, clutter in the cemetery, and other unfavorable activities during the day. You must fight for your life and pray that dawn will come sooner than you think. Don’t let them leave the cemetery. The dead site is right there.

This is one of those games that I wish I could review with a neutral rating. It is, truly, a really fantastic idea, and elements of play are superb. However, there are a few caveats, mostly because it feels like an as yet unfinished game. As others have extolled the virtues, allow me to point out areas of concern for me.
- It's impossible to remove a grave once placed. Once it's done, it's done. If you click on the wrong spot, read a clue too quickly, what have you, you can't "fix" a mistake. And that is problematic for the way the puzzle element of the game works.
- There is very little difference between the three character classes available. Same for the Ghosts. They are fairly easy to defeat. The main challenge is getting around to them in time enough to destroy them before the day expires. And because the game only allows you to remove a tomb if the occupant has left the cemetary (ie: they've escaped), you actually have an incentive to let them go by running the timer down.
- There isn't really a sort of campaign structure right now. No time limit on the number of days. You simply keep playing until you feel satisified, then when you're ready again pump the XP you've earned into the next game.
* While visually distinct, there's still relatively little difference between each of the biomes in which you can build your cemetary. Unfortunately, no "environment specific" ghosts, obstacles, tombs, etc.
I do love the concept of the game. I think the designer is really on to something here. But, it feels like the framework for a great game rather than something complete, and otherwise quickly loses its novelty. Recommended, but with reservations that you may not quite be seeing the potential of this idea.

It's a time killer, after awhile you are just doing the same thing over and over, and there are some ghosts you just can't make happy. you get most of your points during the day so the nighttime fighting feels very optional. overall I think it's pretty cool and I'm looking forward to future content updates

Gets a touch monotone, but with a few more elements easily GOTY material

I really do like the concept of the game but it is too easy imo. At first you make mistakes and might have to fight one or two risen dead but once you figure out how this thing works that will become more and more rare. I made it up to night 100 without any issues and only ended the run aka let them kill me because i wanted to get the upgrades with the ton of points i had collected.
I would love if there was more reward for doing so many nights in a row or to have more decor to spend the money on, or to have the ocnditions you have to meet become more difficult, etc. Right now it only managed to stay interesting for a short time, then you have basically seen everything there is.

thank you for making it so easy to wright review
1. Absolutely love the concept
2. An instruction manual on the nuance of the game and the dead requests would be nice
3. character movement seems a little stiff and slow
4. looking forward to more abilities then just swinging an ax
5. i like the idea of gotta keep them in as well as not joining the dead
6. I am really looking forward to how you flesh this out and refine it.... its fun and a grate classic grave yard grounds keeper.... just heard a great story by mr creeps on youtube ... kinda along this line "I found a journal form the 1800's its contents were disturbing" about a guy getting a grounds keeper apprentiship at a grave yard
Im sure there is a great branching story line you could give this
keep up the good work

nice and cozy little game.
daystage is most important to me where you can decorate your graveyard and place peoples graves where it matches their needs. its very fun because it gives so much freedom.
i would love to see manipulating the ground texture or the terrain hight too.
nightstage is fun, you can fight as much as you want if you know some tricks, fighting is the perfect alteration to building sim to me.
i would love to see gearing up the character as i wish. maybe add some new weapons and armour or some abilities.
so far the game is fun to play, perfekt to kill some downtime!
