A good albeit flawed game, but has that "just one more match" quality to it which keeps you interested and a dev team who're still actively releasing updates. I see potential for this game (or its sequel, or games like this) to go from good to great as they fine-tune the jank.
While there are similarities to FM, to me this feels more like a first person, almost turn-based version of FIFA career mode or PES Become-a-Legend, and by being focused solely on the growth of your own player it outshines both in that "RPG" feel of becoming your actual player, although limited to forwards.
Pros:
- The football world here feels large and varied, like FM.
- Scoring itself feels fun and rewarding.
- addictive, just-one-more game feel.
- occupies a unique niche in the genre.
Cons:
- Janky
- Feels a bit repetitive at times, but devs have been adding more "scenes" (which is how your players game action take place) and more variability to those scenes, as once you figure out the main mechanics and are familiar with the scoring scenes it becomes a bit too easy and repetitive to score.
- Of course not much in terms of licencing and official clubs, but even the "fake" replacements sometimes are a bit too far from the originals. For e.g. the images for youth players are...clearly not young. I understand the limitations but it does make it more difficult for you to bond or even rival against other players emotionally (which there is gameplay for). PES did this better by being a bit more brave/closer towards the actual player names and appearance, e.g. R. Larcos (Roberto Carlos), N. Lemon (Neil Lennon), Ravoldi (Rivaldo). Using that kind of approach I think would have fit right in with the jankiness of the game.

Das Spiel ist insgesamt sehr spaßig - gerade wenn man sich die aktuellen Spielerdaten vom Workshop runterlädt. Daumen hoch!

For me, it just scratched that NSS itch well enough. I would recommend you to get it on sale though.

I have got to be honest; I've been dying for a game like this since I AM PLAYR went offline years ago. The vibes I got from that game was immense, I was really into the story and the gameplay. A FPS football game with role play elements? Sign me up!
Somehow I came across this one and and felt like my wishes came through. Caved in and bought it full price. The suprise was I was about to drop it completely and refund it 2 hours in because no matter what I do I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. I wanted to give it a chance and thankfully I did because I've scored 22 in my last season now and the game is finally fun.
It is janky, yes. Lackluster training, yes. Hard to use shooting mechanic (will come to it later), yes. It lacks stuff, but it is very fun even in this state.
Two things are a must; personal trainer and easy shot mode (found it completely random). Easy shot makes it more akin to aforementioned I AM PLAYR and NSS, making it kind of easier to pick your shots. Training is kinda iffy, sometimes you gain stats and sometimes you lose them, but with the usage of personal trainer I've been able to make strides.
Lifestyle elements are nice addition to break the cycle of gameplay. Yet to buy a car but I'm married haha.
A couple things I would love to see is half-time break talks thus more feedback from coach, personal instructions from the coach (and choice to follow them or make your own decisions), skill shots like being able to hit Panenka penalties, being able to buy kit - I've bought a Nike Total 90 because I saw it in IAMPLAYR- more fan interactions and of course more leagues to play.
Will be enjoying this a lot more, hopefully.
Buy, don't buy, it is your choice and your willing of how much you want to spend money for this game. It is fun.
