FROSTBITE: Deadly Climate
A lone Arctic Biologist ends up getting lost in a sudden snow storm and must take refuge in an arctic research base simply called Base 75. However, the base has no power (meaning no heat) and what’s worse it is clear he is not alone in Base 75.
Frostbite: Deadly Climate is a First-Person Survival-Horror game that takes heavy inspiration from John Carpenter’s The Thing in Setting/Story with gameplay similar to Resident Evil 7. Along with a heavy focus on Atmospheric/Psychological Horror over Cheap/Mindless Jumpscares.
Taking place in an arctic setting, players must watch their body temperature as it will slowly drain throughout. As the body temperature decreases the player will notice some negative effects and will even loose health if their body temp is at 0%.
Game Features
- Exploration, Item Management, Puzzles, and Combat is the primary gameplay.
- an Area Temperature system that can be affected by the players actions and in return affects the player character’s body temperature.
- 4 Difficulty Modes (Easy, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare).
- a Resident Evil inspired Save System that requires an item to save your game.
- a Silent Hill inspired Map system that marks open/lock doors and presents your current objective.
- And much, much more.

FROSTBITE is certainly a indie survival horror inspired from Thing by John Carpenter's. The implementation of the body heat mechanic certainly changes your play-style. You can either manage the consumables or tank through the game although both ways affect your final rating. The doggos certainly sneak up behind you for a mini jump scare! Sometimes the doors would seem to bug out and make you glitch but it is well polished.
Great first game from the developer and 9/10 would recommend!

It's a simple but fun indie game. Obviously inspired by The Thing.
There's not much to it. You explore the research base, finding keys that open different rooms, allowing you to progress. Unlike other games with cold mechanics, you are always freezing here. You survive by collecting and crafting 'drinks' that warm you up, boost your stamina, and regenerate your health. There are a limited amount of items in the world. Because of this, you don't quite get to explore at your own pace. That element was annoying, but I can forgive it since the game is pretty short.
The horror element is gone once you understand the enemy. Most enemies can be defeated by walking backwards and stunlocking them with the axe. They can't open doors, and the dog that spawns when you get the shotgun can't climb the stairs. It's pretty goofy. There is a mechanic that allows you to sneak by them if your temperature is low, but generally it doesn't work because of the confined nature of the base; They'll sense you regardless. The only enemies you can reliably sneak by is the guy on the roof and both dogs. Being that cold is very situational and generally not worth it since you lose health very fast.
I played through it 4 times. The first was the most enjoyable experience. The second was on easy to see how fast I could go. The third was on normal to earn most of the achievements. The last was on nightmare difficulty. Items and enemies always spawn in the same locations so there's no surprises on subsequent playthroughs.
Overall I enjoyed my time with this short game, but I think Near Death is a more challenging and much better arctic survival experience.

my favorite movie is "The Thing 1982", this game feels nearly exactly like that movie in every respect except for the enemies, but the enemies are still fun. frostbite is a very short game, but in my opinion it never is stale or drags. completely packed with engagement and excitement for what is to come next. If you are a fan of The Thing or any type of heavy winter/snow themed horror, id recommend.

Neat. REALLY interesting idea. Looks really nice too, graphically speaking. Damn shame that the mechanic of preserving a room's temperature isn't enough to save you from getting body temperature drop and frostbite. Only the main character could die from freezing to death in a bedroom at just below room temperature.
Couldn't get myself to finish it, sadly, because I just wasn't feeling it. But man, this free game is better than most of the other "games" on Steam. Try this one out people! Its very cool!
