Frontiers Reach
Strap into the cockpit of a retro-futuristic starfighter as you fight through the ravages of an interstellar war across 32 story missions, 15 side missions, and a dynamic warmap with over 2000 possible scenario variations.
It is the year 2230.
After nearly 100 years of expansion and colonization in space, the human species stands on the brink of war. On one side is the corrupt and aging Sol Confederacy. On the other is the fledgling, Frontier Republic. Neither one is willing to compromise and the coming war will see entire worlds decimated for it.
But way on the fringes of colonized space. On a lonely moon called Frontiers Reach. Captain Anya Zuban and First Mate Rhen Malavik are prepping their vessel, the Heliosiren, to ferry a group of survivors deep into uncharted space to escape the coming war.
Frontiers Reach is a mission based, story driven, sim-lite space and atmospheric combat game with a retro-aesthetic inspired by the Cold War era of our own history.
Engage with crew members! The Galley is a great place to get more info on characters, world events, or pick up a couple of side jobs for those extra salvage points when you need them.
Fly for the mission, or fly for the challenge! What fighter you choose and the weapons it carries are for you to decide.
Your starfighter is your space hotrod! From the engines to the countermeasures, spec out your fighter to your liking with the tools available and the salvage on hand.
Fly your own colors, or create a squadron! Choose a squadron logo and color scheme for your fighter and save it out so you can then share it with friends across the internet.
Detailed cockpits! Every fighter has a detailed cockpit with lots of visual feedback that you can leverage while you fly, or fly by the seat of your pants if you choose.
Survive an interstellar war! The war for the frontier rages across more than 35 different locations. Some in space, and some in the skies over planets.
Form up your wing! Each wingman brings something different to the table and can be assigned to a wing for quick and easy selection when taking on missions at the WARMAP.
Can you brave the worlds of the wild frontier? With over 35 locations there is a wide array of diversity throughout the Frontiers Reach Universe. Some will present extreme challenges, and others will offer serene views.
Last but not at all least. Frontiers Reach is Adult Accessible! All of the activities in Frontiers Reach have been designed to be completed within a 20 minute time span. With some activities leaving the option for resupply and untimed exploration of the level at your leisure. Frontiers Reach is a game you can play on a lunch break.

For a game that is designed, written and made by basically a single person is great. For a first game you can see they are trying and its a real hard try. Obviously the graphics are a little buggy, but new updates are bringing better performance. Cant wait to use my new hotas on it.
Gameplay 6/10
Story 8/10
Performance 5/10
Effort 10/10

a solid flying game with an interesting setting/campaign. Give it a go, be warned though it is hard. The controls and flying is solid but keep your expectations level-headed and down to earth as it is an indie-project.

The best thing about this game is that it isn't Ace Combat.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a massive AC fanboy. I've got a stupid number of hours in 4, I damn near bought 7 on day one, and the Zero theme is still on my playlist, so let me be perfectly clear when I say that the biggest compliment I can give this game is that it's not Ace Combat. I've been looking for an arcade flight game that would scratch the itch I got from the AOA limiter from Project Wingman, and I've always wanted something that respected the inherent 3-D nature of space battlefields, and this game does both.
When I first started playing, it took me about 2 hours of mucking about in the tutorial to get a handle on the controls, and for good reason. Unlike AC or PW, your inertia has a massive impact on your flight path. It's less about picking a line and following it like an arrow, and more like driving a car on drift tires through the sky. Once the controls clicks, it feels exactly as cool as that. I originally thought the controls weren't tight enough for the numerous tunnel sections the game throws at you in the first few missions, but the truth was that I was too used to gunning it through canyons in other games to realize that there's no stall limit, just how well you can angle yourself to compensate for gravity.
This game isn't AC, it isn't PW, and it isn't Sky Rogue. It's a unique space and land based half-arcade/half-sim starfighting game with an interesting aesthetic and a very dedicated dev behind it. Try the demo for a while, and you'll find out if you'll like this game too.
