FreedroidRPG
FreedroidRPG is an open source role playing game.
The game tells the story of a world destroyed by a conflict between robots and their human masters. Play as Tux in a quest to save the world from the murderous rebel bots who know no mercy. You get to choose which path you wish to follow, and freedom of choice is everywhere in the game.
FreedroidRPG features a real time combat system with melee and ranged weapons, fairly similar to the proprietary game Diablo. There is an innovative system of programs that can be run in order to take control of enemy robots, alter their behavior, or improve one’s characteristics. You can use over 50 different kinds of items and fight countless enemies on your way to your destiny. An advanced dialog system provides story background and immersive role playing situations.
The game is complete, fully playable, and can provide about 12 hours of fun. While release 1.0 is stable, it is still being actively developed, and help is welcome in many areas. People having – or trying to acquire – programming, map editing, or writing skills will find FreedroidRPG to be an exciting, fast-moving project in which they can fully express their creativity.

I've tried playing this game on the openpandora. Time constraints limited me to finish playing the game.
I was happy to find it on the steam store.
A bit disappointed that it doesn't run on the steamdeck in native mode. I actually run the windows version :-(.
The game is a tongue in cheek,
No, the game is a realistic outlook on a dystopian future where Microsoft was left unchecked, and all good people got killed by an AI developed and installed on all robots controlled by Microsoft.
It is a grim warning against unchecked corporate greed and proprietarisation of the intellect and unchecked lobbying (act 2).
This game would be attractive for people above 40 that have witnessed all these things happening in the now.
This game is a volunteer game. Don't expect it to be hours of fun. However, the game is set up pretty easily. It's game logic is totally in Lua, the savegames are in Lua (which makes fixing a savegame due to a bug easy), and the game logic engine seems to be easy enough to add some story lines and maps.
So yeah, recommended for linux geeks, or greybeards, or those wanting to start writing games in Lua, or even just want to program in Lua and want to see how Lua makes the difference between code and data pretty vague, and let's you concolude it's about intelligent data, or datarich code.

Very different, yet very unique in a good way. Full of many different flavours of gameplays. Definitely would recommend this game to other people!
