In Fragments of Him you experience the lives of four people connected by love and a tragic accident. You walk alongside Will on his last morning and discover the meaning of his final thoughts. With Mary, Will’s grandmother, you learn about his childhood, their conflict, and how they ultimately reconciled some of their differences. Sarah was Will’s girlfriend and first love. She tells us how she found a deeper understanding of herself during their time together. And finally, Harry is Will’s partner when the accident happens. Can Harry ever accept the loss?

At first I wanted to give this a negative review, as I felt it had little to offer in terms of gameplay, and the story, despite being tragic, felt like something I have seen many times before in movies, shorts, youtube videos and just narrations found on the internet. But, in the ending credits there was a note that made me change my mind, it said "this experience" - that statement alone made me reconsider my intital review. It's barely a game, one could argue that it is a walking simulator, but most walking sims at least create this narrative experience based on both environmental storytelling and the narration itself. There was not much of it here, as every single thing that was said or was of any importance had to be interacted with and put out the story in as much details as the creators intended. But, I would definitely call this title a "narrative experience".
The controls feel clunky at times and the highlight on some objects can be hard to see, making it a little bit annoying to play. However, the choices made by developers about the storytelling felt unique and different - which in many cases might not be great, but it did work.
The 5 hours of playing this title went by fairly quickly and it had some heartbreaking moments, however many parts of the story felt a bit pretentious or overdramatised/overglamourised - it can work for many people, but it didn't for me.
Do I suggest this title? Yes, but get it on a promotion, I don't think that it's worth it at full price.
I had fun overall, and I enjoyed the evening I've spent on this experience!
