I wont lie, I waited very impatiently for this game to release, as I absolutely adore Kitsune. Im happy to say I was not disappointed either.
I think the writing was excellent. Either I was so enthused with the game I did not notice, or there are literally no typoes or grammatical errors to speak of. There were a few times when after making a decision the following text made me worry that either I hadnt made the decision I thought I had, or that the game wasnt responding to that decision. But in the end I was still able to mostly walk the path I was trying to follow, even if it did seem as though it was making me choose a side I wasnt actively trying to choose. Also on this my first play through I wasnt able to persue my initial LI, as all my interactions with that person went badly. The responses necessary to have succeeded in a positive interaction with them, were always based on skill checks I couldnt pass. Its possible after having played it through, to know NOW what skills to invest in, to make the right impressions, but I would have enjoyed it much more if the LIs were interested in my character for who they were or how i interacted with them, rather than if i happened to have the right stats to impress them (imho building stats to impress LIs works great in games that are solely based on that idea, mostly because you know in advanced what you have to work on to win them over, its not such a great idea when you are playing a CYA, where your stats are often built blindly and you have no idea that your going to need a certain stat to impress someone you havnt even met yet.)
Otherwise I found the story very filling and rewarding, and noticed at least 3 other completely different character builds I could have tried to play the game differently. So whether you want to be cute, cuddly and playful, achieve fame and power for your own glory, devote yourself to serving a higher purpose, or simply be mean and terrify all the puny humans; You will find your Kitsune here.

A fun little story (I say little just because I finished one path in an hour). The most curious thing to me was that the stats didn't seem to reflect their effectiveness, since my two strongest were at 61% and 57% and had started at 50%, yet I was able to accomplish anything I picked those two stats to do with. I feel like they could have increased more the more I used them.
The path I chose was what I saw as the best ending. Peace for everyone, a heart of hate soothed, and a significant other that I found quite appealing. The description says you can be poly, but I didn't see anything in my run to support this, but it may have been either because I'm not poly myself or the path I was on just didn't bring up that option.
I don't know if I'll go down the other paths at this time, if only because I'm not a fan of Genocide-class endings (of which there appear to be two, out of I think eight endings?) and that I was satisfied with the choices I made.

I finally achieved one ending after roughly three hours. I can strongly recommend this game, the novel is not only well-written, but the author is well-versed in Kitsune lore and mythology. You're given plenty of opportunities to build and shape what your Fox is like. There are plenty of sweet characters to romance and a lot of choices.
If you pick the wrong choices or pick choices not suited to your character you could end up messing things up, so do be careful!
Of course you can also just choose to be evil and punish the wicked humans...Although I prefer being a nice fox.
This has a lot of replayability as well since you can try different builds or choices you didn't pick the last time.
I can definitely strongly recommend this game, especially if you love Foxes!

A good game with lots of promise hampered by small issues.
I say this for a lot of these games that come from Choice of Games, they are too short and in a lot of cases it really hurts the experience. This is one of those cases. Granted this game is still enjoyable and even though it is short it still manages to be fun enough. However because it is so short it doesn't get enough time to flesh out the characters motivations, personalities and stories outside of passing remarks or Daichi's past/reasoning. So becuase of that everything feels rushed and you never really get to settle into the world enough to be immersed in it. However, the writer managed to still make the experience enjoyable and the game fun to play.
The biggest area I think a lot of this CoG could be improved is by including tags to options that specifically state what stat the options use to make the choice. More often than not options are so vague that you cannot tell what stat it is using, and it was particularly annoying in this instance as certain abilities use specific stats but it doesn't tell you which ones. So you could choose Mind Control as your main focus and continually choose options that focus on it but as you don't know what stat it uses, and it doesn't have its own stat, more often than not it will not work. Even if you have used it at every opportunity. This is a problem with all the games from CoG, not Fox Spirit specifically, but it must be brought to attention.
Regardless even with the issues I have I enjoyed the game. I'd give it a 6/10.

A cute choose-your-own-adventure story. It's not super long, which means you can replay it a handful of times to try to get different ends. Has some RPG elements for the choices—some adjust your stats, some test them, some appear to be just flavor. The writing was pretty good, both in the sense of the words being smooth/well-edited and in the sense of having character arcs you can influence. It also does a VERY good job guiding you on the options for important choices—much better than some RPGs where what you choose and what the character actually does sometimes have very little relation.
My one giant gripe is that there is no save/restore at ALL. It's not so bad near the beginning if you mess up and want to start over, but toward the end there are a few points with a lot of possible branches, and if you want to see more than a few you'll have to reply from the very beginning. Something like the ability to start over from the current chapter would have been appreciated.

So just finished this...Virtual Choice your own adventure book? ya that works. Took a few hours and i must say i enjoyed it and would Recommend it if your into Adventure books or want a fox spirit adventure. The pace is steady and you have plenty of time to define what kind of fox you wish to be and who you wish to support. Their is even a neutral option and plenty of friends and if you so desire, mates to pick from.
That said, a few minor critizism:
1st. maybe i just haven't explored everything (i havent) but some characters seem to have more well, character then others.
2ed. as others has suggested, maybe make it more clear what stat goes with what choice. Sometimes the flavor text and wording makes it obvious (cunning, charm, spiritual for example) but other times you try something and ask yourself "why didn't that work exactly?" maybe add a (insert stat here) to choices that require stats.

Very fun text based game. Each choice you make matters in determining the outcome of your story which is great. Made me happy and would recommend.
