Fossilfuel VR: Raptor Isolation
Fossilfuel VR: Raptor Isolation is an indie VR horror game, set in the Fossilfuel game universe. Unarmed, you are put up against the intelligent and furious Utah Raptor! Not to be mistaken for Velociraptor, Utah Raptor is twice the size and just as terrifying as its smaller brother. You will have to use items and smarts against the ancient dino, as you try to find a way to escape Sierra!
Return to Sierra!
Return to the underground research lab, Sierra, in the heart of Alaska. The vast underground base has lost power from an EMP event and various dinosaurs that were being bred and experimented on have escaped! The base is designed for survival horror, as you have a proper main silo and side corridors filled with clues and puzzles to collect. This design allows players to tackle the game in any order they want.
Clever girl…
Trapped underground, you are hunted by a 300 pound Utah Raptor! Sneak behind crates, make no noise, and hold your breath as this terrifying Jurassic monster hunts you down in fantastic VR!

Uncover more backstory to the terrifying storyline of Fossilfuel! New story elements and lore for players to uncover, as you play as a lost Sierra security employee. Raptor Isolation takes place simultaneously as the events of Fossilfuel.

Fossilfuel VR is a stealth horror game. The basic idea is to get out of the facility while you're being hunted down by a very hungry Raptor. You have to solve puzzles and use stealth & ingenuity to get the hell out before you're turned into dinner.
Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting variable frame rates from 90 to 45 fps on epic, high, & medium graphical quality (performance was only slightly better for each downgrade). I didn't try low graphical settings because it looked too blurry. You do have manual save checkpoints. You have full locomotion (head-gaze based) and teleportation, as well as snap turning (very slow, low angle turning).
VR interactions are pretty poor. You basically either point & click or just basic grab and pull / push. You automatically go up and down ladders. You clip through many objects & the collision between objects is problematic. The floor was not set correctly for me & there was no way to adjust this in-game, but I was still able to grab objects I needed. The UI is clunky. The inventory system is basically a glowing floating rectangle that items just stick to. Using a passcode to open a door was way more challenging than it should have been as this was one of the worst interactions I have ever had in VR.
I think the graphics looked good, but not great. The map does look pretty detailed. Per the dev, there are multiple endings depending on how you tackle the challenge. I think for the sale price of $9 USD, it seems like an okay deal for what you're getting, especially if you are into this stealth horror.
Rate ?/10. I didn't play enough to accurately score, but if I had to score based on what I played, I would give it a 6/10 just due to the poor optimization and the poor VR interactions. On the other hand, it seems like a good game ... if it were only more polished I would rate higher.

Very different from Fossilfuel. Enjoyed the stealth element. The titanoboa scare in the sewer was a nice touch.
