When Penny dies under mysterious circumstances, she wakes up and finds herself filling in for DEATH HIMSELF! This temp job comes with a new power - the ability to flip between the worlds of the living and the dead! In this puzzling platformer, she’ll need that - and her wits - if she ever hopes to unravel the mystery of her demise.
Leap between platforms, solve puzzles and help the dead rest in peace by possessing the living and making them dance around at your merest whim in this comedy adventure game by Zoink Games, with writing by the Eisner-award winning Ryan North.
- Flip between worlds: Move swiftly between the living and the dead.
- Possess the living: Control their limbs and read their minds to solve puzzles.
- Play as Death: You're just a temp, but the ultimate power of life and death is in your hands.
- Dive into a rich, colorful world: Explore vivid environments in a pop-up book style and make your way through a completely original storyline!

If you liked "Stick it to the man" You will probably like this more as this game is much simpler and less aggravating than that was. It has the same cool art style, and zany dialogue that is mostly charming (minus the need they found to insert political agenda that was not necessary to do because no one talks like that and it doesn't add anything to the comedy so it wasn't necessary).
All you really do is walk back and forth across the small platformer based map and switch between the land of the dead and the land of the living by possessing people. There's a silly story with attempts to be clever by being super meta often. If you like that you'll like the writing although it's sometimes trying waaaayyy too hard but that didn't totally bother me as I found the voice acting completely fine despite not being familiar with any of the actors and that mostly made up for the fairly mediocre writing.
Unfortunately I don't have much else to say about it. The game was short, breezy, and for the most part I enjoyed it.
I think if I had one thing I like the most about the game it's the art style. I think it's their biggest saving grace.

The artstyle, the voice acting, the dialogues, the soundtrack, everything in this game is just superb. The aesthetic really draws you to follow the story and all characters are unique and quirky.
Yes, the controls aren't perfect, and once I had to restart a chapter because I entered a texture and fell out of bounds. But nonetheless this game is great! It's not like you'd die for giving it a try :P

The game ist packed to the brim with lovable and memorable characters, the music score is beautiful and the graphics are solid. The voice actors are simply amazing and did a great job with these characters.
I recommend this game especially to lovers of point-and-click games, as the concept of the plot development is quite similar.
The only drawback I noticed, if you want to call it that, is the lack of platformer action. Also the little irregular double jump was sometimes annoying, especially when it makes you jump over edges when you need or want it the least.

Not much to say about this one.
Flipping Death is a more modern take on the old-school point n' click adventure games - one that doesn't rely on pointing and clicking! This is a very welcome change, to me. The puzzles are perhaps as contrived as the puzzles of old, but the game is well aware of this problem and silently points you in the right direction in a smooth way. The contrived nature of the puzzles is also complemented by the writing.
If you've played Zoink's other games, Stick it to the Man! and Zombie Vikings, you know what you're getting into. This game is very similar to their first game. The mechanics are different, but the spirit is the same.
The music and voice acting are really well done, and so is the graphical style (allowing for some buggy physics-based animations).
I'm not a big fan of referential humour but you'll definitely find some here. Not in an obnoxious way, fortunately!
Honestly, I found the gameplay a bit tedious at times. It's not a very mechanical game at all, and it's mostly about possessing everyone in the level, first, to learn of the problems each character is facing and who may provide solutions to those problems. Once you figure some of the quests out, all else kind of falls into place in a chain.
It's an amusing game, if not very meaningful. Very stylish.
As I said, it's like an old-school adventure game, but with more modern gameplay. If you like adventure games, especially stuff like Grim Fandango, I think you'll enjoy this one.

When Death does come for you, remember: he's not such a bad guy.
You'll probably like him.

PROs:
- This game is insanely fun, the characters are wacky and lovable, there are a few unexpected twists.
- If you're stuck, there are hints in the pause menu.
- The world expands with each chapter, the fast travel is clever.
- The challenges are challenging, but not impossible.
- Meatball is best boy.
CONs:
- Controls are wonky, which can be frustrating at times, especially when using abilities.
- The game breaks occasionally, resulting in you getting stuck and having to replay parts of it, or cutscenes will trigger out of place.
- Some of the challenges need to be done in order, but there is no indicator, even if it becomes impossible to complete them.
- Achievements seem to be broken, at least for me none unlocked.
- Not enough Meatball.
Overall, I'd recommend this game. If you take time to do the challenges, it'll take you about half to a full day to finish it, so it's perfect if you, like me, are stuck at home at the moment.

Flipping Death is similar to a point and click adventure with some easy platforming elements. If you liked Stick it to The Man (I played on PS4) you will also enjoy this game. I wish this game had done better so Zoink can keep making interesting stuff like this.
+ Nice visuals
+ Flipping back and forth has purpose and feels "right"
+ Good voice acting
+ Story is funny (albeit simple) about filling in for death on his vacation to the moon
+ 8-10 hours with all achievements, nice bite size length for the price. I purchased for < $10 on sale
- Controls without controller are tough. Highly recommend a controller, I used my PS4 controller. Keys cannot be rebound
- Puzzles and challenges are a little too easy
