I've only played a couple of JRPGs in my life (Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload), so the following opinion may not be that of a genre pro.
Flatworld is looking like a great game to me, even compared to the aforementioned games.
It's fun, not too difficult, with a good story, with thousands of references and, above all, with a YouTube channel that has allowed us to follow all the development of this game (Guinxu).
If you want to start in the JRPG genre, this seems to me one of the best experiences you could try to get into the genre.

Getting better with each episode!
It's not excellent at any particular area, but it delivers fairly well in all of them. There's a little mystery that keeps you hooked, new mechanics are introduced pretty often, and it makes the most of them.
Buy it before the price raises again with the next episode's release!!!

Fun dungeons, solid overall game design, and it's getting there! More dungeons were added.
