READ THE MANUAL!!!!! (way too many ppl complaining about how it plays, then you watch their gameplay footage and you see why). i saw it by mistake on the game's library page, under additional content. that manual really took the game from a 4/10 to an 7.5/10 for me. i didnt even know that half of those moves were in the game till i opened the manual.
anyways, a really fun beat em up that will test you. tough as nails, and no continues lol (but you earn lives through the scoring system). if you are not willing to play it the way it was designed to be played, you will not enjoy it. this is not SR4. controls take a while to get used to, and again, i don't know why the game manual isn't "IN" the game as a menu option.
also, why in the world is stage select in settings lol??
apart from that, i love this game for what it is - just a good old 90's inspired beat-em-up, in every sense of the word. i really like the pixel art as well, you really cant mistake it for another game when you see a screenshot, even if you haven't played it.
anyways, its worth your time and money and you are looking for a beat em up that doesn't hold you hand

A tribute to 90s arcade "belt scrollers", from Final Fight to Vendetta (as the title says), from Streets of Rage to the little-known Legionnaire, and everything in between. However, as a game in itself, it is just okay and not worth the full price it's sold at. You should buy it during sales like I did.
PROS:
+ Great graphics with huge, well animated sprites and detailed backgrounds.
+ Excellent techno-house soundtrack that is very appropriate to the period (the 90s, of course) and the setting.
+ Good controls (played this with a controller) with a number of button combinations and special moves.
+ The capoeira twins are hot :P Bananeiro!
CONS:
- Too short even for an arcade-styled game.
- The tribute is so spot-on that there is actually nothing original or new about it, feels like a generic forgotten 90s brawler.
- The additional unlockable modes (survival, boss rush and Ultra difficulty) don't really add much of anything.
- Ranks are kind of useless since you are automatically given the worst one if you die even once in a level, so what's even the point of hoarding lives?
Nice but it could have been better.

Quite a simple and short game without any plot in which there is nothing outstanding. If you like this genre, you can buy at a discount to quickly pass.

The rare retro game that is both faithful *and* well crafted. The negative reviews have no idea what they're talking about.
1) Zero tedious textboxes or quipping
2) Great music and sound design. This was evident from the first seconds of clicking the menu to start.
3) The brawling gameplay is simple but fine. It feels somewhat like King of Fighters rather than like Final Fight or Streets of Rage.
4) Fascinating playability details like how you can *cancel* a dashing punch move into a flip kick.
One problem is that the built-in "CRT" filter isn't good and it seems partly bilinear (terrible). My advice is that people should Shader Glass or Reshade and then use a shader like CRT Mini Ultra Trinitron.

Basically everything Streets of Rage 4 should have been... kind of pathetic honestly that they put such a huge budget on such a pile of garbage but there it is... keep it simple, that's all you had to do.
It has a banging sound track (200% better than the garbage they put in SOR4) takes you back to the 90's for sure... it's a vibe. The game play is incredibly simple, there's nothing cheap about the mechanics like boss armor. It's just good old fashioned recovery attacks and i-frames when bosses do their specials but other than that, standard solutions to old school mechanics.
The game is just the right length for the demand of the achievements. Beating the game on Ultra is daunting, you have 1 life and there are no extra hidden lives in the stages on this mode so it's kind of nuts... but it is what it is, demands perfection, just like an old school game would.
The game isn't perfect, the graphics / art design is kind of hit and miss... some of it looks good, some of it doesn't... just depends on which attacks you're using. The game is rather short and there's not a lot of combo potential but it's still fun.
The ranking system is a bit cheese because it's based on how many times you're knocked down... this I don't agree with. So you basically start at an S rank and if you take too much time or get knocked down, you lose a rank... it's kind of dumb.
Solid 7 / 10... there's a lot of potential here. Definitely worth checking out if you're in to old school 80's and 90's arcade beat 'em ups.
Final Vendetta is definitely better quality than a lot of indie clones on Steam.
As decent as it is, it's incredibly short and repetitive, grab it on a deep sale for sure, don't pay more than $10... it's not worth the $30 price tag.

A real successor to Final Fight. Real fun and packs a punch. This game doesn't get the praise it deserves.

Final Vendetta shows once more why Bitmap Bureau are masters of modern games inspired by arcade classics.
It captures the spirit of games like Final Fight, Vendetta, and Mutation Nation, but most of all it reminds me of Konami’s Violent Storm.
The soundtrack is spot on and suits the game perfectly. Enemies and bosses are well designed, there’s a good mix of weapons, and the gameplay strikes a balance between being fair and giving you enough challenge to keep you coming back.
Bitmap Bureau already showed what they can do with Xeno Crisis and Battle Axe, and I can't wait for what's next.
For me, Final Vendetta is one of the strongest modern examples of the genre, and it’s one every beat-’em-up fan should try.
