Review:
Far Cry 2 ist ein absolut unterschätzter Klassiker. Die Atmosphäre ist dicht und glaubwürdig — man spürt förmlich die Hitze der afrikanischen Sonne, hört das Zirpen der Grillen und das Knacken des trockenen Grases unter den Füßen.
Die Spielwelt ist riesig und frei begehbar, und obwohl die Story eher zurückhaltend erzählt wird, lebt das Spiel von seiner Stimmung und dem Überlebenskampf. Waffen verschleißen, Fahrzeuge müssen repariert werden und Malaria-Anfälle erwischen einen in den unpassendsten Momenten. Klingt nervig? Vielleicht. Aber genau das macht das Spiel so intensiv und einzigartig.
Besonders cool: Das dynamische Feuersystem und der Tag-Nacht-Wechsel sorgen immer wieder für überraschende Momente. Ein gut platzierter Brand kann ganze Gegnerlager in Panik versetzen.
Ja, die Respawn-Rate der Gegner an Checkpoints ist manchmal zu hoch, und die Missionen ähneln sich, aber wenn man sich darauf einlässt, bietet Far Cry 2 ein dreckiges, kompromissloses Open-World-Erlebnis, das man so kaum noch findet.
Fazit:
Wer eine glaubwürdige, raue Shooter-Erfahrung sucht, sollte Far Cry 2 unbedingt eine Chance geben. Für mich einer der besten Teile der Reihe.
Empfehlung: 8,5/10 — Malaria inklusive.

17 y/o game? Still good? Still good!
I enjoyed it back then. And I enjoy it now. A bit rough around the edges, but still good.
Picked it up (2,50€ iirc) on sale, and have 50 hours in it, had 2 side missions from one type and
4 from the other left.
Pros:
Guns feel nice and chunky.
Buddy system! Forgot to quicksave, your buddy got you.
Fast travel system is realistic and useful.
Map function is great, it is actually useful. Use the monocular.
The story was not as predictable as I remembered it.
Environmental gameplay is nice, aka use the fire or exploding barrels.
Progression is nice.
Collectibles are useful related to the story.
Save house system.
Cons:
Car physics are janky.
Movement, especially jumping and getting out of the water, can be frustrating.
AI acts pretty foreseeable., can't see you, hide and stay. One can see you, ALL can see you.
Needs more NPCs or living environment.
Enemies at checkpoints resporn constantly.
Patrols are annoying.
All in, I think FarCry 2 still holds up nicely, mainly because of the Dunia Engine and the pros mentioned.
Many Cons can be fixed with mods, if you so choose to.
It is worth playing. Maybe even worth a remaster...

Trotz teils Repetitiver Abenteuer Richtung Anfang des Spiels, lohnt sich dieses Spiel. Das Setting und die Story ist es einfach Wert bis um Ende zu spielen und dabei wird man auch sicher nicht enttäuscht.

Far Cry 2's combat and surival mechanics are on another level than any Far Cry game ever. I love the gritty realism they put in there and I will never forget it... so good. Also that one mission I will never forget. Without telling any spoilers I just gonna say: "I will kill them all... and absolutely no one will expect it.". Funny that the worst thing about Far Cry 2, are the outpost and nowadays they are the best thing since Far Cry 3.
Unfortunately I also need to give a warning: This game is in some aspects veeeeery buggy. This Steam version did something wrong with the up and down movement of the npcs. Also on the stationary machine guns (not the car ones) you cannot get out once your locked in. But if you keep those issues in mind, the game is completely playable.

Ich finde das Szenario von Far Cry 2 richtig cool. Dieser Bürgerkrieg in Afrika ist etwas, das man in Spielen nicht oft sieht, und das macht es besonders interessant. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass die Entscheidungen im Spiel oft keinen großen Unterschied machen, weil die Fraktionen fast identisch sind. Insgesamt hat Far Cry 2 für mich eine einzigartige Atmosphäre und ein Setting, das sich von anderen Spielen deutlich abhebt.
