Vault-Tec engineers have worked around the clock on an interactive reproduction of Wasteland life for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own vault. Included is an expansive world, unique combat, shockingly realistic visuals, tons of player choice, and an incredible cast of dynamic characters. Every minute is a fight for survival against the terrors of the outside world — radiation, Super Mutants, and hostile mutated creatures. From Vault-Tec, America’s First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation.

If for some reason you missed it - make sure to give it a try, even after the years since release, Fallout 3 is still a masterpiece post-apocalyptic adventure rpg. It is a lot better than Fallout 4 imho.

Really good game, I played it a ton on ps3 but I got it on steam and played through it after my mom past away. it's made me think a lot about how me and my dad get along and are similar but we also argue and get on to each other a lot about stuff. when I was doing the main quest when I had dialog options with lone wander's dad it was pretty much like talking to my own dad. it warmed my heart. definitely a top 5 role play game. pick it up when its on sale and if you have a low power computer made after 2010 it can most likely run it. the only down side is that it doesn't have any achievements.

Possibly the game franchise with the most specific, odd-ball you-had-to-be-there-to-understand sense of humour. I miss the RPG aspects they kind of ruined in 4 and 76. So every now and then I come back to 3 and New Vegas. I just miss being there. They are like old friends.

Fallout 3 is a great combination of action and RPG. The game takes place in the late 23rd century. I didn't think I'd be so impressed by it, as I'm not an RPG fan (I prefer shooting), but I love games for their atmosphere, especially post-apocalyptic ones (like STALKER).
Fallout has relatively beautiful graphics. The designers did a great job: entire blocks of abandoned buildings, each containing abandoned equipment and items, and even edible food (it's surprising they haven't spoiled in 200 years). The radio also adds to the game's atmosphere; you really want to listen to it (pleasant blues and jazz tunes play through the speakers), and you can sometimes hear conversations. I didn't expect such a large world with such freedom of movement and such a nonlinear plot; completing it could take several days, at least. Along the way, you'll complete a ton of side quests (there are a lot of them!) and meet dozens of playable characters. Every action, every word you say, matters. The game features a gripping storyline that can unfold differently for each player. The game offers dozens of endings, which also depend on the side quests you complete. I was impressed by the V.A.T.S. system, which makes killing enemies incredibly fun (you can shoot off almost any body part and watch it slowly fly away). Also worth noting is the wide selection of weapons and ammunition. I can't wait for the next installment of this amazing game..

Fun fact, there are 2 fallout 3's on steam, this one and fallout 3 game of the year edition and if for some reason you buy both versions, you have 2 copies in your steam library, I don't know why this is, and I don't know why I bought it twice, but hey isn't that a fun fact....
here is a link to the game of the year edition:
BTW. because there are 2 versions of the game, that also means there are 2 community groups for the same game

GO BUY THE GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION
Had a pretty long ass review written on this but figured I'd shorten it up. This game is just as much the tits as it was 17 years ago. Graphically it's aged pretty damn well imo. Ive had zero issues and crashes, thanks to the removal of GFWL. Downloaded a couple of mods like the unofficial patch but honestly, it's a complete "plug-n-play" package right out the box; a rarity these days for games released pre-2010. Havent played it since before NV released and it was a breath of fresh air, with the bull shit that Bethesda has released since FO4 (havent played NV or 4 since their releases either for what it's worth). The music is solid and GNR (a radio station in game) is a must when playing the game. Overall it's still a fantastic game and rpg and holds up well in 2025. Just dont expect 2025 quality and youll have fun.
If youre like me and havent played 3 or any FO in awhile, it's definitely worth checking out or revisiting, especially if youre a fan of old Bethesda games.
If you wanna mod the game, youre gonna need the game of the year edition.
