Well, would I recommend this game? Yes. But, do you get very easily frustrated? Then probably not.
Why you may ask. Well, the combat here is quite unforgiving. I can't tell exactly if this was intentional or it was because the whole game was made by a solo dev (which by the way is kind of impressive) and few things just went missing. Combat generally apart few aspect feels a bit clanky but it has it's spark. You really have to time your dodges or blocks or even attacks as once you get hit, it felt like constant stagger. Nonetheless, it felt a bit different than in other souls like games. I guess clanky would be a bit of a compliment in that case.
Definitely felt sometimes that enemies/bosses are way overpowered compared to my current combat potential (just to give you an idea, I've finished the game with all weapons collected, all additional weapons I think, 62 vit, 65 end, 99 str - because you cant go wrong with unga bunga, 60 tena and all lamps collected), but I want to believe it was all part of adapting and finding new weapons before bosses to utilize it's potential. DEFINITELY A LOT OF FUN WITH SELECTING 4 ADDITIONAL WEPAONS AND FINDING OUT THE BEST COMBOS TO USE.
I'm kind of a player that has to look at every possible corner and really I have to appreciate all the effort put into making the whole map and the shortcuts. At the beginning it all felt a little chaotic but in the end it made more and more sense. Honestly it was well made and there is still potential for more secret rooms as some areas I wandered, especially in the palace or castle were empty. I also appreciate the music - it fit perfectly with the mood of this game.
One thing that made me a little bit frustrated was probably lightning aspect, (which can also be my graphic settings, but I did change it in various ways without effect) as there were areas that felt like I was playing live action Robert Pattison Batman. I know there is a "spell" or weapon that will light the area but it felt unnecessary sometimes. I did try goin on/off with night more but it didnt really brigh much of a change.
Other than that I really have to admire the amout of effort put to make the whole game. I'd really like to see other souls like games from this dev in the future. 24/24 achieved this game and I don't regret anything.
