Ember Crusade IV is a twin stick looter shooter roguelike where you embark on a blazing crusade to save the solar system from a demonic invasion.
Collect hundreds of guns, armor and materials to create the ultimate crusader. Take to the randomly generated battlefield, dodge rolling, shooting, reloading and pulverizing your enemies into a very fine bloody pâté. Ember Crusade IV features:
- Visceral combat
- 7 Planets
- Hundreds of guns
- 3 Powerful crusaders
Fight through seven distinct planets as one of three powerful crusaders: The Justicar, Marauder and Gunmancer. Each crusader brings a unique ability to the battlefield, like throwing holy hammers at enemies, or summoning guns made out of bone to fight alongside you.

Ember Crusade IV is a shooter with loot system where you collect equipment and fight enemy in different planets.
Graphics (7 / 10) : The graphics are pretty good, with 7 differents atmospheres, one for each planet.
Gameplay (6.5 / 10) : The base gameplay is pretty cool, basic furious shooting system with differents guns, dodge and abilities. Each gun have his own stats and there level up for becoming more powerful.
The game has 3 differents characters to choose and play.
However, the game has permadeath feature so you lose all you’re character progress (level and stuff) with each new run, and the system for upgrading the characters with resource required too much materials.
The game is also pretty hard and you can easily die during a run.
A gamemode without permadeath feature to be closer to a classic hack’n’slash will be good addon in my opinion.
Price (6 / 10) : The game cost 6 euros, and have 7 levels to visits, that ok but because of the hard difficulty and permadeath feature that can be pretty tough to get through the end
There some permanent progress but for now the progress is really too slow for being efficient ..
Story/Music/Optimization (6.5/10) : There no story in the game, but not really required for this type of games.
The music is good, pretty like the chiptune song and weapon effect.
Don’t get any problem of optimization, the game is pretty fluid and don’t get any freeze … (played on a i5, 2Go VRAM and 8Go RAM)
Final Note (6.5 / 10) : Ember Crusade IV is a roguelike shooter with loot system game, really fun to play with fast gameplay, with a big lack of progress during each new run. Recommended and I hope for a no permadeath gamemode in the future.
+ :
- Really good gameplay
- 7 differents planets
- Characters progress in the run (level-up / weapon)
- :
- Permadeath / Really too slow permanent progress through each new run
- Pretty hard and sometimes too easy to die
