This is a prequel to the free game “Elona,” which was released 10 years ago and spawned numerous stories and adventurers who never returned. While retaining the traditional roguelike gameplay, the new game adds crafting and survival elements, base building and management, and enhanced graphics in a quarter-view format.
Main Features:
* Sandbox RPG with survival, crafting, home and town building and management.
* Randomly generated dungeons and content, as well as well-developed fixed maps that are faithful to the world setting.
* Classic turn-based roguelike gameplay.
* An epic tale of humans and Eleas.

They had to nerf breastfeeding because at some point the meta was to start a war quest, milk the boss mid combat, and feed it to your pets for an insane amount of levels and stats.

Elin is the prequel to an old freeware roguelike known as Elona. If you played Elona, you know basically what to expect here, just add in a rather deep crafting system, town management mechanics, and a fully translated story with some interesting ideas.
For those who haven't played Elona, Elin adheres to one very important roguelike aspect: the game is actively unkind to you if you dont take the time to understand it. Beyond the learning curve, Elin is a whimsical game with an air of hidden malice and nigh infinite grinding.
Lots of classes and races to choose from on character creation with feats that mean your choices will immediately matter in how you play the game.
Start out as a fairy thief and you'll be very fast, lucky, and able to steal right out from under people, but only be able to wear incredibly light gear. Say goodbye to that adamantite mace you were eyeballing.
Start as a Juere pianist, and roam the lands plying your bardic skills while your audiences tell you you're shit and throw rocks at your skull. Gain a cult following like any good musician, and eat lots of dead slimes to keep that charisma score rising.
Or play as a snail tourist, take 3 months to go from your house to the nearest town for groceries, and immediately die when a local janitor throws salt on you.
Life in Elin is what you make of it. Become a farmer and produce fruits and veggies so nutritionally dense that a single one of your potatoes could meet the nutritional needs of an entire country.
Become an adventurer, delving deep into 'Nefia', randomly generated dungeons that burst forth to the surface from their long buried states as the world seismically shifts.
Become a fisherman who turns all of his catches into bonito flakes... On a sawmill?? And then ferments the bonito flakes into wine in a brewery barrel to sell?
Drink from a well and suddenly break your legs losing 10 speed?
Fight an alien and become pregnant when it forcefully injects an egg down your throat and into your stomach??
Worship an advanced tech God who used to be human but ascended to godhood to try to kill all the gods himself because you saw he had a sweet shotgun and you want it???
Buy a few mermaids off a slave trader and scrape the scales off of their tails once a week to use them to craft mermaid leather handbags to sell en masse to a rabid consumer base????
There's a LOT you can do here, and a good chunk of it feels pretty unhinged when you think about it. 10/10 would feed a mermaid her own egg in omelette form again.

>play a musician
>go to the middle of a town and start playing my lute
>all is going well i get hit with rocks slightly less then usual and i made 12 dollars
>a s rank adventurer walks over and throws a rock at me
>instantly pops my head like a balloon and kills me
>i walk back to where i died to get the money i dropped

>decide i'd have an easier time performing at an orphanage
>walk over to the orphanage and accidentally right click an orphan
>immediately decapitate them
>buff myself with a potion in preparation for a onslaught of toddlers
>nothing happens
>right click another orphan, decapitate them as well
>nothing happens, killing orphans isnt a crime

>right click a carrot to pick it up
>"Are you sure you want to commit a crime?"

After sinking 260hrs in Alpha and Beta I think Elin is one of those best games we could ever have in our lives.
This game is a prequel (or sequel) to the game called Elona by Noa. Now he had a small indie studio called Lafrontier (Noa, NZ, Rusty).
Elona was originally an inspiration from some traditional roguelikes like Adom and Angband.
Noa started developing Elona around 2006 and then discontinued the game around 2010.
He then released the source code for a limited time, then picked it up by a fan project and forked into several different games. Elona+ is the famous one, and Omake is second. The easiest starting point of all newcomers is Elona+. It's a massive game, and you can easily spend hundreds to thousands of hours on it. But if you want to be more faithful to the original Elona, Omake is the way.
Don't play Elona Mobile, though it's just a gacha cashgrab using Elona's name, made by a Chinese game company, LT Games, and then they started to become greedy and are now ripping off Elona's name. They made "Elona 2" in android, another cashgrab without Noa's permission, and using some stolen assets, fk them.
Elin was originally called ElinsInn. In Elin, we, as players, can pretty much customize our character (you can't choose much who your parents are, though, lol).
You can pretty much have the freedom to be whoever you want. You can pick one of the various races, like a human, a fairy, a Mifu/Mofu, Succubus, a lich, a snail, and more. You can also pick jobs depending on your playstyle.
Freedom in this game is really massive.
You can pretty much become a casual player or hardcore player as you see fit.
In this game, you can:
-live as a farmer making a living by farming
- become a thief who loves living on the edge, stealing people's stuff, then selling it for profit in an underground market with a risk of losing karma and being beaten/shot to death.
-become a pianist by making money by playing music
-or just become a regular adventurer going into Nefia (dungeon), diving, or traveling around the world.
And more.
It's all your choice, and no one forces you.
This game is similar to Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld in some part; you can manage your residents and recruit more people to help you around the base, but your character has more freedom to do and going out for adventures.
You can fish, grow crops, gather, craft stuff, cook food, and build your bases as you see fit (like an inn, stores, a naughty hut, or whatev).
You can also feed your residents to increase their status and make them strong, take them on adventures with you, or just tie them in the gallow to train them; it's fun stuff.
In this game, same as the OG Elona, you can choose one of the many gods you will serve (I'm a simp for Jure; she's a tsundere godess, and my character always sleeps with her body pillow <3 watashi daisuki Jure, mai waifu!) or just being godless.
It's all your choice, but serving god is better because you can get nice stuff from them.
You can get married in this game (altho it's still not implemented, but soonish, I can't wait to marry my dear Loytel).
You can also make your resident a livestock for them to produce milk, wool, and eggs. Using your residents as power generator is also a possibility <3 Also making love with your chicken or anyone (yes, anyone). You also need to paying taxes like proper normal human being, or avoid it...(you will be a criminal if your karma is low enough).

I think Noa is the most based developer ever. He's been working on his passion project all these years and updating this game daily. It's crazy how he could manage to make this massive game with a very small team.
You can pretty much feel how much love the developers poured into the game. The kickstarter was funded around 2023, and he has been working tirelessly daily to update the game until now.
He has no drama, no overpromising stuff, no kickstarter BS like some scammy game developer; he just keeps improving the game for the better.
I really respect Elin developers. This game is really dear to me, the community is great, and I will always cherish the time I played this game.
For people who complain about the lacking character sprites, just play it. Graphically, this game is simple, but gameplay-wise, this game has depth that you will never see in other games, and you won't ever notice the lack of animation after some while.
It's truly an experience you can't get in other games and I will keep playing it for the years to come, very recommended!.

UPDATE:
If my review didn't convince you enough to get this game, here's another fun fact of this game:
-You can use string panties as a throwing weapon (it'll come back to your hand) It can also play music! How cool is that?!
-Slave is exist and you can become slave trader
-You can trick the NPC to love you by snucking love potion into their food.
-You can learn enemies's weak spots by reading a naughty book of them (yes, their doujinshi!).
-You can debuff the enemy/boss by throwing them poison or any debuffing potions cursed stuff even makes it better!
-You can get a salary from the thief's guild by stealing and selling your loot and raising your rank
-You can nuke the entire town using a nuclear bomb (but it's not implemented yet, hopefully soon!)
-Some equipment or weapon can be "raw" material you can eat it!
-You can get Mutated, it can be buff like iron skin that will raise your PV or debuff like creaky joint that will reduce your DEX
-There's a disease in this game called Ether disease, similiar like mutation there will buff or debuff one
I once got "Enemy Of All Living Things" that makes all npcs hates me and attack me whenever I go, truly a nightmare times
-You can also do genocide! Don't worry killing anyone they will revive! truly a crazy world Elin is!

Its been 3 in game years and I have accomplished zero of of the main storyline. I run a small farm full of whatever rejects I have found. One of my chickens secretly wants all humans to die. To earn money, I sell hallucinogenic mushrooms. Its not enough, the tax man is going to get me. I earn a bit more money by doing a simple errand to deliver an Assault Rifle to Port Kapul. Job done I take a break in the spa and drown to death accidentally. I spend some platinum coins and get more skills and take up sculpture and improve my mining. I eat hallucinogenic mushrooms and create a royal statue of a prostitute, which i promptly sell. The tax man is appeased, for a little bit. I earn enough money to buy a horse, and then have my pet little girl ride on my shoulders at the same time, creating a totem pole of doom. I also take up music. While practicing the little girl on my shoulders pelts me with a brick she picked up somewhere and I nearly die. I decide to go practice in front of much smaller children and old ladies for awhile. Eventually, I play at parties and earn enough to pay for the tax bill due 2 months late I didnt get to pay due to buying a horse, which I am still so bad at riding I can actually walk faster. The tax man is appeased again. I start a museum with some of the statues I make and start expanding my land and making housing and getting more farm/livestock to keep a consistent food supply. My taxes due are still going up, help. Help. The tax man is still coming.
10/10 taxes are due again.

I have pursued the noble art of the lute, and have dedicated much of my life to the instrument. "I've done it, I've master this piece" I think to myself. I decide to make my way to the nearby capital city to perform for the masses and showcase my hard work and dedication, after arriving in the city i find the most populated square and begin to play my heart out pouring all of my love for the lute and passion for the arts into my performance. as I began playing I hear a voice boom from behind me "you can't play shit!" the voice says. Than he throws a rock at my head instantly killing me.
Highly recommend this game.
