Dota 2 is a very popular role-playing multiplayer game. Player have to select one of the unique fantasy heroes for every fast paced battle, and together with team make an attempt to overcome opposing team in skill, strategy and reaction. The game is very challenging and hardcore, but quickness of matches, makes it fun to play even for casual gamers. Besides, Dota 2 features hundreds of custom mods which make this game replayable again and again.

I love playing support. I enjoy the satisfaction of feeling like even without big time stats, I greatly influenced my team to victory. Finding out abbodon was my go to character took around 6-7 weeks of testing out different heroes. And just when I thought I had found my hero in Broodmother, I found that as I moved up to more talented players an less first week players, I found that she was to easily countered. In some games, I would have put it down for a while, discouraged in the failure. But in Dota 2, I adapted. I had been given a new challenge and changed my gaming style to a laning harasser character and changed to support. I look forward to what the years will bring in this game. one thing I really love about Dota 2 is no matter how much time you put into the game, you still won't master everything Dota has because it's so complex. I stopped for a year, but got back just a week ago, and Dota can sure be pretty hard yet through practice, it becomes so fun to the point you get addicted to it. Xfire.com says for new players that want to start playing this type of genre LoL is the way to go but if you want to go in for a deeper, harder experience go for Dota 2.

Custom map named Custom Hero Chaos is very popular lately, it is a sort of fantasy battle royale, where you pick up spells and progress through pve and pvp short fights until only the winner is left. Mode has great replayability as in every game you are only limited to pick spells from a limited random pool.

It might freak you out, but I have more than 6000 hours played in Dota 2, and approximately the same amount in Dota 1. For me it feels like modern chess or something. One of the few massively multiplayer intelligence games where your pocket size doesn't affect your skills at all.
Truly a game of minds in a modern "data" world, because there is really a lot of things to keep in your head about this game to master it.
I know there are tons of mods, but they are for casuals.

Schlechtes Abitur, 2 Studienabbrüche - ohne dieses Spiel wäre dies nicht möglich gewesen. 5/5. Immer wieder.

Rezension: Positiv ✅
Du installierst Dota 2, weil es kostenlos ist.
Du bleibst, weil du glaubst, du wirst besser.
Du spielst weiter, weil du denkst, das nächste Spiel wird nicht so schlimm.
Jahre später: Du kennst jeden Held, jeden Patch, jeden Ragequit-Grund.
Du hast keine Freunde mehr, aber eine 55% Winrate.
GG, well played

Wenn man sich selber und andere hasst, ist dieses Spiel perfekt.

So far around 380 games played over ~570 hours. This might be the first time that I am writing a review for a game, so here goes nothing:
I started DOTA2 precisely a year ago. Some dudes played League of Legends, the others DOTA2. I personally did not play a MOBA in my life. I am also not that much into PvP, typically. Might be because I am over 40 by now, have a kid and the pressure of playing against others is kind of messing with your family life. ;)
Anyway, I tried both, LoL and DOTA. LoL did not even come close. It is hard to put into words why DOTA is such a special experience to me:
1) Obviously I played Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, so I like the graphic style
2) It is a joke how hard it is to learn the game, but with every round I get a bit better which is rewarding
3) The game has multiple tactical layers
- over 120 heroes and each of those having very unique abilities (at least four, some much more)
- while the map is not changing patch over patch dramatically, the roles each of the five players has to play and master are quite different and the game is not giving away easily how those roles work and interact
- buying the right items and figuring out how to use them effectively on each hero is science
- various objectives on the map are by far not optional, but you can easily miss out on them
- the game has a rhythm: while the time is ticking, lots of stuff is being triggered on the map and you have to learn about those events by educating yourself
- it is probably impossible to learn the game just by playing it; but if you enjoy reading and watching stuff about the game in order to improve your play, you gonna have fun for a long time
- the feeling to perform well with your team mates and probably fight your way back after you had a rough start is phenomenal
- by contrast to many other games: even if my team is not getting a win, I am still rewarding and feel satisfaction if I made some clever plays per round
- having the option to rewatch your rounds to figure out what went well and what didn't is awesome
I could go on. Love the way it is monetized: lovely skins all over. Then there is the customization of your map and the user interface, depending on what you customize there is different music kicking in once your team is on a streak or about to lose. It adds a wonderful flavor to the experience.
Truth be told, I played a lot of games in my life and the vast majority did not keep me motivated for long. this game did it and still does - I understand now why there are players with thousands of hours playtime in DOTA.
It's a masterpiece probably one of a kind.
The community? Can't say too much about it. I do not use voice chat and if I see some toxic chats, I just ignore it. Yeah, every PvP game is attracting weird people. You get used to it. I don't mind.
If a game has such a steep learning curve, every experienced player should appreciate that they are going to meet some dumb noobs along the way. If that is triggering a tantrum, I feel for those naive guys. If the even restarted on a new account, smurfing around, it's even more obvious that this happens.
You can play DOTA well without bothering too much about some idiots. I am not playing ranking, so it might be worse there (or not).
Anyway. I love the game, it's deep and in some areas artificial complexity (which Valve probably does not want to get rid off in order to not scare away veterans) and it's overall gameplay. 20min per round in "turbo" (fast mode), 30-40min in a traditional round... predictable commitment per round so I do not get lost too much in it. ;)

I'm a LoL vetran and hate how the game changed into a gacha game over the past years. Dota feels like LoL at the time I loved it. Highly recommend but its fvcking hard to learn.
