The game is set in an alternate reality of the series. The game's story takes place in Limbo City, a modern-day city secretly controlled by all-powerful demons, manipulating humanity through the comforts of life, with the demons themselves residing in a parallel plane called 'Limbo'. Living on the fringes of the brainwashed society is Dante, a young man at odds with the demons who constantly hunt him, and the civilian authorities they control. Dante is warned by a young woman named Kat that he is in danger just as a Hunter demon drags him into Limbo. Dante navigates the Bellevue Pier's carnival and kills the demon with Kat's aid, who can see into Limbo with her psychic powers. Dante returns to the human world and accepts Kat's offer to meet with her boss, Vergil. Along the way, Kat explains that Vergil leads "The Order", a rogue vigilante organisation intent on exposing the demons and releasing the world from their control. Vergil tells Dante that with his help the Order can bring down the demons. Dante learns that he and Vergil are not only long lost twin brothers but also Nephilim, the children of Angel and Demon and the only beings capable of killing the cruel demon king Mundus. Their demon father Sparda was Mundus' chief lieutenant in the war against the angels until he betrayed Mundus when he fell in love with the angel Eva and sired the twins. Mundus, afraid of the Nephilim, attacked the family and killed Eva.

Keine Ahnung warum das Spiel damals gefloppt ist. Es ist ein verdammt gutes Action-Adventure mit originellen, guten Mechaniken sowie top Plattforming (für ein 3D Game).
Edit: Der Grafikstyle sieht besser aus, als was vieles, was heute rauskommt und es frisst gerade mal 20%GPU bei 165fps FLÜSSIG.

DmC: Devil May Cry wurde oft unterschätzt, aber für mich war es ein richtig starkes Actionspiel. Das Kampfsystem ist schnell, stylisch und fühlt sich einfach gut an. das Spiel hat flüssige Kombos, coole Waffenwechsel und spektakuläre Finisher. Auch wenn der neue Dante anfangs gewöhnungsbedürftig war, hat das Spiel seinen ganz eigenen Charme entwickelt. Der Look wirkt heutzutage etwas veraltet, besonders im Vergleich zu aktuellen Titeln. Aber das kreative Leveldesign und die starke Inszenierung reißen es raus.

Story
DmC: Devil May Cry entführt uns in die düstere Welt von Dante, dem halbdämonischen Helden mit einem Faible für coole Sprüche und noch coolere Frisuren. Die Geschichte ist packend und voller Wendungen - so wie ein guter Krimi, nur mit mehr Dämonen und weniger Detektiven.
Gameplay
Wenn du Lust auf actionreiche Kämpfe hast, dann bist du hier genau richtig. Dante schwingt seine Waffen so elegant, als würde er für den Dämonenballettwettbewerb proben. Und ja, die Anzahl der Kombos, die man ausführen kann, ist ungefähr so hoch wie die Anzahl der Kaffeetassen, die man braucht, um nach einer Nacht durchzuspielen.
Grafik
Die Grafik ist fantastisch – die Entwickler haben wirklich jeden Pixel poliert, als wären sie dabei, sich für den „Schönster-Pixel-Award“ zu bewerben. Die Umgebung ist düster und stilvoll, genau das Richtige für einen Dämonenjäger mit Stil.
Soundtrack
Der Soundtrack ist episch und passt perfekt zur Atmosphäre des Spiels. Die Musik könnte sogar deine Oma dazu bringen, Luftgitarre zu spielen (nur zur Warnung).
Humor
DmC: Devil May Cry nimmt sich selbst nicht zu ernst, was das Spiel erfrischend macht. Dante wirft mit sarkastischen Kommentaren um sich, als wäre er bei einem Comedy-Roast für Dämonen.
Fazit
DmC: Devil May Cry ist ein Must-Play für Action- und Hack-and-Slash-Fans. Es kombiniert tolle Grafik, flüssiges Gameplay und eine spannende Geschichte zu einem unterhaltsamen Paket. Und ganz ehrlich, wer möchte nicht in die Haut eines halbdämonischen Helden schlüpfen und böse Buben vermöbeln?

Nachdem ich die ersten 3 Devil May Cry spiele und nun auch Teil 5 gespielt habe möchte ich sagen das DmC mein Lieblings Teil der Reihe ist, 2013 komplett gehatet (was ich nie verstanden habe), ist es heute der Teil dem ich wirklich Leuten Empfehlen würde wenn sie Spass an Spielen dieser Art haben. Bisschen dolle 2010 edgy Humor aber dadurch auch Produkt seiner Zeit und ein bisschen Nostalgie.
