The game is set in an alternate reality of the series. The game's story takes place in Limbo City, a modern-day city secretly controlled by all-powerful demons, manipulating humanity through the comforts of life, with the demons themselves residing in a parallel plane called 'Limbo'. Living on the fringes of the brainwashed society is Dante, a young man at odds with the demons who constantly hunt him, and the civilian authorities they control. Dante is warned by a young woman named Kat that he is in danger just as a Hunter demon drags him into Limbo. Dante navigates the Bellevue Pier's carnival and kills the demon with Kat's aid, who can see into Limbo with her psychic powers. Dante returns to the human world and accepts Kat's offer to meet with her boss, Vergil. Along the way, Kat explains that Vergil leads "The Order", a rogue vigilante organisation intent on exposing the demons and releasing the world from their control. Vergil tells Dante that with his help the Order can bring down the demons. Dante learns that he and Vergil are not only long lost twin brothers but also Nephilim, the children of Angel and Demon and the only beings capable of killing the cruel demon king Mundus. Their demon father Sparda was Mundus' chief lieutenant in the war against the angels until he betrayed Mundus when he fell in love with the angel Eva and sired the twins. Mundus, afraid of the Nephilim, attacked the family and killed Eva.

While the hardcore DMC crowd dislikes this game or even edgelord hates it, I find it to be the best DMC ever made.
The combat is a bit easier to master than in the other running series, which makes it more accessible for non "hardcore" players.
The art style is polished from start to finish, with vastly different, lovely detailed environments, which is always the worst part in all other DMC games, because those have a rather minimalistic art style and focus entirely on combat.
The level design is top notch! Changing levels, where platforms, walls etc. move as you travel through it. It's really a sight to behold. The combination of the level and art design, are similar to how Alice: Madness Returns looks and feels like at points. Alice and DMC are the only games that have such a unique art style in combination with dynamic levels, that it's worth playing for that alone.
If you're a hardcore original DMC fan, you already know about this game. If you're looking for a game with amazing visual design and fun combat, get this one!
I believe they made a big mistake when launching this as a reboot, because it did insult their loyal fans, and the game even makes negative remarks to aspects of the original game.
If they made this a spin off, I'm sure we'd have DMC 3 or more right now, all amazing games, running parallel to the main series.
I still wish for a sequel to this one. The first level alone is such an amazing trip!

DmC Devil May Cry is an action-packed hack and slash game that brings a fresh take on the Devil May Cry series. Personally, I found it to be a great game that offers a thrilling gameplay experience and an engaging story.
One of the standout features of DmC Devil May Cry is its fast-paced combat system that allows you to perform incredible combos and take down hordes of enemies with ease. The game offers a variety of weapons, each with its own unique playstyle, and the combat feels incredibly satisfying.
The game's visuals are also impressive, with detailed character models and stunning environments that are brought to life with vibrant colors and incredible lighting effects.
However, one of the downsides of DmC Devil May Cry is the camera movement, which can sometimes be frustrating in small areas. The camera occasionally gets stuck, which can make it difficult to turn around and see what's happening around you. This can be particularly frustrating during combat sequences where you need to be aware of your surroundings.
Despite this issue, I believe that DmC Devil May Cry is still a great game that is definitely worth checking out. Its fast-paced combat, stunning visuals, and engaging story make it an excellent addition to the Devil May Cry series and a must-play for action game fans.
