About the Game”To find yourself in a new, unknown world – it’s like standing face-to-face with a monster. And so many forget: to that world, they are just as much of a monster.”
During the New Year’s Eve, the curator of a mansion built on the outskirts of a town invites his protege and her friends to celebrate the New Year together. He gives her an unusual gift. The gift that is never meant to be opened. And only a powerful mage such as her can keep it shut. It and what it holds within. At least, that’s what the Curator thought…
D’LIRIUM is an experimental 2D-shooter with the elements of a horror game. The game brings together some mechanics back from 90s classics, such as a search for the keys, non-linear levels and a lot of other things. Moreover, the game contains a lot of experimental tricks, such as random events, non-traditional controls for a shooter game, etc.

160+ hours at the time of writing this, 100% completion and gifted to about 5 of my friends.
Honestly? This is one of the most underrated games I have EVER played!
D'LIRIUM plays like the old DOOM games, constantly switching between weapons to take out certain enemies, telefragging the stronger ones, and prioritizing which enemies to attack next.
Custom maps (like Eye of God) especially will test your skill in this department.
The game takes an average of around 2 hours to beat if you're rushing it, and 3 hours if you're taking your time.
But don't be discouraged by that!
The game also has an arcade mode which lets you play with...
- randomized enemy / item spawns,
- your own custom character (or one uploaded to the workshop,)
- custom maps (although most of them are broken with the latest update,)
- a "lantern invasion" mode for those who're more into let's just say... stealth oriented gameplay.
Oh! Right!
This game also lets you play stealthily, so you sneak up on enemies and hit them with a surprise blow if that's your kinda thing.
Alongside multiple difficulty options (and no punishment for playing on lower difficulties,) tons of achievements (look up a guide for some of them tho,) custom maps, custom characters, all packed into a game that costs LESS than a Big Mac?
I'd still recommend this game even if it was $10!
Overall, if you're a fan of top-down shooters that play like the old DOOM games, this is an absolute must-have!
Admittedly the English isn't great, but it's certainly not bad.
The only thing I would change / add is the ability to let people downgrade to older versions of the game (like they used to be able to) so they can play older maps, since sadly 80% of them are still broken, or at least add a fix for that.
10/10 overall! If the dev is reading this, keep up the good work!
And please take my consideration above as I think it would really help replayability! ^^

I bought this game around like 2017 or 2018 I think, but only commited to a full playthrough now. Probably for the better since the game is out of early access nowadays. This is one of those games that I feel like was made specifically for me. It's simply, completely, unapologetically self indulgent in every aspect.
Firstly, it's a top-down sprite based horror game, one that is very similar aesthetically to something you'd see on the RPG maker engine. If you have fond memories of stuff like Misao, Mad Father, or Corpse Party, this game will take you right back, even though it is on a completely different engine, and has gameplay that is much different from those other titles. Like those other games, it carries the same ultra edgy violence happening to adorable anime (or furry in this case) characters. And I just love that, I love any piece of horror media that mixes it's horror with extreme cuteness, as I feel it makes it more effective for a weeb/furry such as myself. The fact that the characters are so adorable to me puts a lot more pressure on me to make sure they come out okay in the end.
Second, the combat takes palpable influence from oldschool shooters (hell, I even recognize several of the sounds from Quake and it's expansions!) You even get one spell early on that lets you teleport to a little ball you toss around like in the final boss of Quake, and yes you can telefrag monsters with it! There's also a BFG type spell that just nukes groups of creatures and gibs them instantly. It borrows the Quad damage power up aswell lol
Lastly, as is probably the first thing most people will notice, this game's art style leans heavily on My Little Pony. Naturally, it's meant to appeal to the bronies, which might turn several people off. But listen, dear reader, i understand. I was a hater back when the show was new. But I was like 16, and the show has been done for like 5 years now. It's time to mellow out, kill the part of yourself that cringes, and let yourself enjoy some adorable technicolor horses. Or well, not that colorful in this game. Most of them will be covered in blood and slime. Some of them will be missing body parts. But I digress.
This game is more than just an amalgamation of it's influences however. It also adds many more of it's own little tricks to the mix. Other than a regular health bar, you also have a toxin meter and a sanity meter, and picking up certain items might decrease one type of damage but increase the other. That means you have to keep up with a balancing act of keeping all your meters down, and prioritize which is more important at a given moment. It's neat!
Though I gotta say, the penalty you get for losing your sanity is... not my favorite lol. You are basically teleported to "your personal hell", and you have to grab shards of sanity before returning to the normal stage. It's an interesting idea, but the personal hell gameplay is not as interesting as the regular stage, and takes a bit too long for my liking.
Unrelated to the sanity mechanic (mostly) is the maniac state. If you go on a rampage your character will become psychotic, and start enjoying the carnage a bit too much. On top of giving you a passive increase to insanity, it also affects the ending you get so... be warned. The only way to cure the maniac state is by saving the spirits of fallen enemies through a limited use spell.
Really, this game just has a lot of weird little mechanics like that. I'd say they're hit or miss, but honestly, I appreciate that. It's willing to experiment, it's willing to be completely self indulgent, and weird. It's not playing it safe to please anyone, it's brazenly doing whatever the fuck it wants, and pulling it off for the most part! I respect that immensely, more game devs need to be this hedonistic when creating video games. Hell, more artists in general need to be more self indulgent when creating anything!

Love the game, I wish there was an option to make the hud bigger. I think it is beautifully designed and I wish I could get a better look at it.

D'LIRIUM is a top-down horror shooter where you enjoy a nice NewYears party with your pony friends. Beat it in 2.6 hours using a keyboard and mouse. Difficulty can be set in game. Content Warning: Pixel guts and gore, disembowelment.
This is one of those games where you get it cheap and keep it in your library closet for years thinking it's something completely different than what you thought it was. It's not a slow RPGMaker jrpg game. This is more of a fast-paced oldschool Diablo shooter with Doom aesthetic, and the player happens to be a death pony. Mouse clicks shoot/teleport, Shift runs, Space picks things up (you have to click space repeatedly to pick anything up), 1-4 chooses weapons, tab opens map when you get it, and ` is the command key. There are also different modes, like an arcade mode.
For as niche as this game looks, it's pretty freaking good for a hell shooter. The replay value is there and there are a ton of achievements that are not easy to get, encouraging you to be creative on your future playthroughs. That also means it's an achievement hunter's worst nightmare. You can probably find other games like this on steam, but you wont find one where you can beat a dead horse for thrills.
Friendship is magic.
*** Epilepsy Warning: This game has an overload of white, black, and red erratically flashing and strobeing lights. Would stay away if you have photo-sensitive epilepsy.

story is kinda ass, especially since it was translated using google translate, but the horror and gameplay is peak. The soundtrack is sick too

Despite what you might think. It's a fun game.
Has its obvious Doom-like inspiration. With plenty of blood and gore should you play it that way.
Multiple secrets and endings. It's short and sweet.
I've currently been waiting on the other game in the series.
Don't let a fandom turn you off a game series. Nor a couple of individuals from your interests.
Give it a shot. I mean at 5 bucks what do you have to lose?
Also thanks dev or devs. For the continued support and small patches. It's a labor of love.
Hope you keep making stuff.

Try to have a nice New Year's eve party but something goes wrong when a eldritch box decided to open on its own at midnight.
Story - A
After the event of the eldritch box opening on its own. Ada now needs to find out what has happened and try to either save herself or her friends.
Game play - A-
Basic combat for both melee and range attacks, But a rather interesting choice for having to mange not only your health but also you sanity and toxicity as well. I do love the idea that you have a chance to come back when you lost all you sanity, but have a time limit if you can not get out fast enough.
Look and Feel- A
While a lot of it does look like something out of a RPG Maker game. It makes up for it with the levels after the intro.
Final Grade - A
For a random game I found on steam and a MLP horror game as well. I found this to be a fun game to play. Plus I really did like the sprit art work for the enemies. I hope that the next game that the devs are working will be just as good if not better.
For a little tip for the teleport spell. You fly a lot faster then the orb. So be mindful of that and try to be quick on the abort option when you are solid ground
