Enjoyed quite a lot! Very short and sweet, the art, music and interface are highly polished (with the exception of a couple of CGs which are a bit off but eh, they get a pass), the script could use some grammar proofreading in quite a few places but it's still well written and very snappy for the genre.
Some twists got me by surprise, others I worked out by myself which is the perfect balance, I would have liked a bit more flesh on the bones near the end but all in all I was very pleasantly surprised. I love picking out unknown VNs that just give me the right kind of vibe I'm looking for and I wasn't disappointed. It's got that slightly indie/amateur charm but with the polish that shows it's had a lot of love in the creation.
Characters are fun, the designs are nice and use high quality assets throughout, there's some decent misdirection in a few places too. Our MC at times has some decisions that feel annoying but then has some amazing lines later so it evens out!
It is a kinetic VN so there's no choice or gameplay, you're just along for a short story, it's not particularly deep or complicated but you could absolutely do far worse with your time. Even reading it all out it only took 2 hours on the dot.
Some spoilery feedback on the story: I think there needed to be one more male character as since only one was alive it was kinda obvious who it was, or take out the "it's a male demon" reveal! Also a shame we didn't get any mystery as to why two died at once. That's usually a mystery full of twists! I think a fix there would be to say the two people who died at once, one was killed with the first pentagram, the second with the second, and all demons have their own design and THATs why they realise there's a second - doesn't narrow it down to gender so you'd still doubt Alice or Lily,,
Two characters never appear again but had great designs! I wanted Lily to be important but she just stopped appearing and it felt like the first professor would play a larger role. Killing Dave offscreen was narrative genius. I had a hoot constantly being like "Yeah! Screw Dave! Everyone hates that guy!" when we've never met him.
I really think the ending should have had a different approach with a real deep dive into his character and a heartstring-pulling story of anguish he has to go through being forced to kill and how it's ruined his life in other schools and how hard he's tried to be different, or how bad it's gotten for him as the only other demon he knows is dead, etc, as it stands he's just a bit cartoon evil and the emotional impact is far less.
I think I'm also a bit ?? at how little time between murders there were as that implies HUNDREDS of students have been killed with pentagrams everywhere over the last year and.. the uni just kept covering it up?
