Seems kinda primitive and barebones at first. Turns out it is very fun and addictive anyway. "One more try" kind of game. When you're pretty sure why you messed up the last time, so next time will be better. Right? Right. One more try...
Also, I've seen some youtube videos where people call it a "King's Field like" for some reason. Well, it's not. If you're into exploring giant interconnected areas and piecing together obscure lore bits, then look somwhere else. This game doesn't have that. The randomly generated levels have very simple layouts. And an automap won't allow you to get lost. The challenge comes from combat and resource management. Which is fine. Just not something I think of when I hear "King's Field like".

Amazing little dungeon crawler. Once you figure out the mechanics, it really flows quite well. With enough skill, you could beat this game without any luck, and for everyone else, with enough tries, you can find a set of items and buffs that will carry you through the game.
The visuals and atmosphere are very cool, the freaky enemies and sometimes absurd spells gives this game a feeling of an old game from your childhood you don't remember buying and you've lost the manual.
The biggest gripe i've got is some rings/spells are useless/redundant (one ring gives you extra oil for the laps, and another gives you infinite oil, for example) and the 100 floor mode (normal run is 25) feels like a bit of a slog and i wouldn't do it again. Also the pacifist achievement is insane.
That said, after those 20 hours, i've feel like i've seen enough of this game, finished all the endings, and overall im very satisfied with the game.
I really hope the dev makes a more story focused game in this style, because the atmosphere and the tiny bits of lore we get (mostly from the starting town and steam trading cards) really make me hungry for more.

A Kingsfield style roguelike. It's fun and it embraces the fact you can upgrade your spells and stats to absurd levels. As a bonus, you can always drop by the Devil Spire Discord where the dev is very social and giving access to pre-alpha versions of the sequel.

Very strong King's Field-esque dungeon crawling. Satisfying exploration and a nice variety of weapons/spells. Easy to dip in and out of for some casual questing

Extraordinarily addicting, very interactive, reminds me a lot of Daggerfall or even Arena - Just needs a lot more of everything in my opinion.
My favorite modes are the Meta-Progression ones. You'll find those if you search around the mode and difficulty select screen for a while.

It's alright. I would've preferred a mix of handcrafted and procedurally generated levels to offer variety but I suppose that's outside the scope of this game. It can be challenging too, however if you're lucky with the item & spell RNG it's possible to cheese the boss fights. It's a simple dungeon crawler and if you want to spend a couple hrs in the morning with a King's Field-esque game then this is for you.
