About the Game
Demon Skin – is a brutal hack’n’slash set in a rough dark fantasy world, which combines unique combat mechanics, RPG and fighting game elements, and even some platformer features. With the flexible combat system each player can come up with their own unique tactic by skillfully combining stances with various types of weapons to achieve the ultimate efficiency in battle.
The darkness has got into the far off corners of the universe and threatens the world. Only the mighty Order of Wanderers whose members possess superhuman divine powers can resist that threat. One of the Wanderers witnesses a sinister ritual of restoring a powerful ancient artifact. In an attempt to break off the ceremony he gets into a flow of energy released by the artifact and instantly turns into a demon!
Wanderer is now eager to regain his former appearance but to do so he needs the artifact which was stolen afterwards. The hero sets on a path to find it, fighting the hordes of demons along the way.
Improve your skills by mastering various stances for lightning-fast parrying and inflicting maximum damage with spectacular finishing moves! Keep an eye on the level of stamina and other indicators of the character’s physical condition – all these features directly affect the outcome of the battle.
Collect shards of Crystal and become even stronger, build up your bone armor and turn into a fearsome demon.
There are more than 30 types of edged and blunt weapons at your disposal and each type is only effective against a certain type of enemies. You can destroy enemies even with your bare hands – it’s not as effective but still a lot of fun!
- An extensive skill tree. Gain experience to learn new combos and enhance health, stamina, and attack power!
- Dozens of enemy types. From skeletons, zombies, and spiders to werewolves, lizards, and golems – fighting each of them requires a different approach!
- Secrets and artifacts. Some rare and ancient artifact weapons are hidden in the secret places of the game world. Find it to unlock the impressive super skills after achieving a certain level!
- Gloomy landscapes in the spirit of dark fantasy: from the icy wastelands and deep dungeons to the twilight forests and abodes of the undead. This cruel world lives a life of its own, but terrifying creatures that inhabit it are not always hostile. On your way, you will not only meet enemies but also powerful allies!

Demon Skin left me with a bittersweet taste...
Yes, it has its flaws. Platforming in this game can be very clunky.
Yet, the combat system is awesome. And very engaging. Level design is simple, yet engaging.
Finished it in 4 hs (tried to do as much as possible, and died quite a lot).
However... It ends in a very weird cliffhanger. Almost like they have not finished the game and you played through the prologue.
Would love to see this game get expanded, or a sequel. But right now, leaves a strange taste.
TL:DR. Loved the game and mechanics. Ending seems rushed.

Overall completely worth the asking price. Not a perfect game, but it has a unique feel and the flaws don't ruin the experience, they just lessen it *slightly*. Mostly it just feels like a solid game that is very clearly in early access. I'm pretty picky and I had no problem playing the game for nearly 5 hours straight and only finally called it quits on a tough boss but will probably go back and kill him one day :')
I did receive the product for free under the pretense of covering it on stream, so I want to clarify that for transparency, but it's not coloring my review to positive. I think this game kind of looks worse to spectate probably, but the combat is solid mechanically and the gameplay platforming feels very classic Prince of Persia.
Give the game a bit of time, I know this is such a cop out and often you can really judge a game quite quickly once you get to the feel of it, but this isn't a game to refund at 15 minutes if you don't like it, give it an hour if you can and end up not really liking it. To be completely honest while I enjoy many indie games, I feel tons of them just aren't worth the asking price, but this isn't one of them, this game

Okay, this is a really good atmosphere. I played all evening and was satisfied (but I hope the developer will take into account the feedback and fix the controls)
By the way, the combat system is really interesting

Demon Skin feels like a mix of the original Prince of Persia & Dark Souls and man is this game brutal! Its quite precise on the jumps and attacks, you have to know what you're doing. Love the huge variety of monsters, awesome weapons & hidden secrets. I am constantly looking for destructible walls or hidden paths to find the next cool weapon. Unusual but interesting combat system. You have to get used to the controls for some time. You have basically 3 attacks, (high, middle and low) which you can string into different combos and finishers. There are also character and weapon upgrades, but I am not too familiar with it for now. RECOMMEND!

Demon Skin
~~~~~~~~~~
Demon Skin is a fantastic new Hack&Slash game that implements a challenging yet interesting combat system. Demon Skin seems to be trying to combine its unique new combat system, lore, and the overall character-arch to put together a fascinating mixture of dark aged souls-like experience.
Although the game is very early on in its age, and certainly not without its flaws, from where I stand it seems to be in capable hands, constantly trying to polish off the rough edges, which is very comforting to see.
I will discuss more of the game’s current issues later on in the review but for now, Demon Skin seems like a mature enough platform that can be shaped into something much greater than it currently is.
Plot: The world slowly falls into the darkness. Dark demons and entities start to cover the world and beyond. The dark powers start to perform a dark and sinister ritual to restore a powerful ancient artifact.
Witnessing this unholy sight is the mighty Order of Wanderers, whose members possess superhuman divine powers. Only the Wanderers can resist these unholy powers and rituals.
Seeing an unholy ritual, a brave-hearted Wanderer jumps in; in an attempt to break off the ceremony he gets into a flow of energy released by the artifact and instantly turns into a demon!
Eager to restore his former glory, the demonized Wanderer sets off to find the artifact that will restore him as well as removing all the unholy power from the face of the earth.
Gameplay: The game starts off with a short yet brilliant intro that pretty much sums up the game's plot nicely, but with terrible voice-over and sound effects.
You wake up as a degraded demon with a broken soul but with enough rage, anger and will to keep on fighting until you regain your former glory.
As you go through each demon and unholy creature, you start to regain some form of sanity, structure, and strength to keep on fighting and face off stronger foes.
Regaining some strength and structure in your body by killing demons, you also get melee weapons. There are few types of weapons available but in multiple variations and in varying stages of upgrade.
Each different type of weapon, with the variety of upgrades, was supposed to be effective against different types of enemies, but that didn’t really seem to be the case. A weapon with high enough DPS was enough to get through most.
Also, there is a skill upgrade system available that helps boost the player’s state in exchange for points obtained throughout combat. This system helps with player stamina, attack rate, etc.
Combat system: Now let’s get into the cream of the crop, Demon Skin’s unique take on hack&slash combat system. Demon Skin’s combat system is simple yet unique with its three combat stances, combined with movement, unlockable combos, artifacts, unique items and skills.
As you face an enemy, you have the option of attacking using heavy or melee blade weapons in three different areas - Head, Mid-section and Legs - while at the same time blocking incoming attacks by simply pointing the mouse crosshair at the level of the incoming attack (which will be indicated).
Although this blocking system works, it’s neither efficient nor convenient. I would’ve preferred a key or a right-mouse-click blocking system instead, and this system's animation seemed to be poorly done as well.
The Combos work just fine and are very powerful if performed in a timely manner. While playing with keyboard and mouse the combos are performed with mouse left-click attack and attack level adjustment, which is rather annoying to use. But on the other hand, it’s pretty enjoyable and easy with a controller. I would recommend sticking to a controller for Demon Skin.
Demons and Bosses: A variety of well-designed demons and bosses with a decent amount of combat capabilities and a fair amount of challenge for the player.
The only downside here is the animations, that are pretty rough and could be improved upon.
Music and sound effects: Let’s just say, it’s not quite there yet, and needs a lot of work.
And the same goes for the few voice-over bits available in this game.
Positives:
+ Decent plot
+ Unique, enjoyable hack&slash
+ Well-designed demons and bosses
+ Skill system plays an important role
+ The fights are challenging but not too much
+ Decent progression system
+ Controllers work just fine
+ Atmospheric
Negative:
- Voiceovers need to be redone
- The blocking system could be improved
- The attack animations could be improved
- Sound effects could be improved
- Unpolished in quite a few areas
In a world ravaged by darkness and unholy powers, a brave-heart wanderer must step in to face the Demons of darkness.
This game deserves to be more popular.
The fight system is nice. This system has 3 kind of attacks. Up, middle and down. The defense also works like this, so you need to choose the right move at the right moment. You can also throw your weapon to the enemy.
Some weapons have special powers and combos.
The levels and monsters are well done. There are bosses, traps.
The game is well made but I received 1 crash. But beside that crash the game worked without problem with me.
The controls work good, the sound is also good.
Here is a look at the game:
Punchy combat, entertaining voice acting and story, beautiful art, surprisingly polished and well curated. I personally wasn't a fan of some of the rather trial-and-error platforming/running sections, but other than that I didn't experience problems with the checkpoints or difficulty like some others seem to have.
