Democracy 4 lets you take the role of President / Prime minister, govern the country (choosing its policies, laws and other actions), and both transform the country as you see fit, while trying to retain enough popularity to get re-elected…
Built on a custom-built neural network designed to model the opinions, beliefs, thoughts and biases of thousands of virtual citizens, Democracy 4 is the state-of-the-art in political simulation games. A whole new vector-graphics engine gives the game a more adaptable, cleaner user interface, and the fourth in the series builds on the past while adding a host of new features such as media reports, coalition governments, emergency powers, three-party systems and a more sophisticated simulation that handles inflation, corruption and modern policy ideas such as quantitative easing, helicopter money, universal basic income and policies to cover current political topics such as police body cameras, transgender rights and tons more.
Democracy 4 is the ultimate sandbox for testing out your political ideas. We all think our politicians are useless and that we could do a better job ourselves, but is that really true? With one eye on the budget, one-eye on the polls, and somehow finding time to watch out for terrorist attacks at the same time, you will find that staying in power while changing society for the better is a tougher job than you ever imagined.
Would it really be a good idea to legalize all drugs? to give the police machineguns? to ban abortion? to invest heavily in green energy? would UBI really work? can you stay elected after cutting pensions in half to pay for your science budget? There is only one game that lets you find out!
The intention in designing this game is to have no implied bias whatsoever (tricky, but we try!) so this is NOT a game that is going to lecture you about politics, or tell you that your beliefs are wrong. This is a strategy game, not a political protest :D. If you want to turn your country into ayn rand’s fantasy, abolish all public spending and all taxes, you can do that. it might work, it might not! depending on how you handle it. On the other hand if you want to nationalise the railways, the energy companies, the water companies, cap CEO pay, ban second-home ownership and put universal income in place, you can do that too. All the game tries to do is model the *likely* effects, short and long term of any action you take.
Because modders have so enthusiastically supported earlier games in the series, we are doing our best to make Democracy 4 as mod-friendly as possible too, and steam workshop support will make choosing and installing mods easy. Ultimately all our data is in text files that you can edit yourself, so if you think our analysis of the link between car tax and car usage is wrong (for example), its trivial to edit it, and share your changes with other players.
Ultimately Democracy 4 is not a game about simply winning an election, but about running the country. Losing an election is just the end-game (unless you get assassinated), the real challenge to the game is whether or not you can create a country you are honestly proud of. I hope you enjoy trying 😀

Le jeu est extrêmement complet et bien fait, moi qui suis un énorme bandeur de graphiques (dans le sens diagramme) je suis servi, on ne voit pas le temps passer, aucun bug à déplorer, et je découvre toujours des choses mêmes après quelques heures de jeu (bon peut-être parce que je vais trop vite).
Moi qui était un peu réticent à l'idée d'acheter Democracy 4, c'est totalement rentabilisé, j'attends toujours de tester Geopolitical Simulator, mais pour 5 fois le prix de Democracy 4, j'espère qu'il sera au moins aussi bien, et j'en doute vu les commentaires.
Bien mieux que les jeux de son genre comme Lawgivers et The Political Process, il faut certes un peu de temps pour le prendre en main (suivez le didacticiel c'est un conseil) mais après ça le jeu est un pur bonheur, seul souci que je rencontre après seulement 6 heures de jeu... Qu'est-ce que je fais maintenant ?
3ème mandat, 75% lors de la dernière élection, 98% d'approbation aux dernières nouvelles ! 20mllds d'excédent budgétaire, un PIB en constante augmentation malgré la chute de l'économie, absolument aucun danger en sécurité alors que je pourrais faire 4x mieux, il nous manque des happenings !!! Une attaque terroriste, le départ de plusieurs entreprises, là je vais juste attendre la recherche sur la fusion nucléaire et la recherche pour une exploration sur Mars, mais je ne sais pas combien de temps cela va prendre, et en attendant, je n'ai rien à faire, mon économie augmente toujours, ma popularité est presque au maximum, je me demande ce que je vais faire.
Alors est-ce que je suis juste un fin stratège et un très bon président, peut-être, mais j'ai l'impression que le jeu devient trop simple à partir du moment où l'on a trouvé la recette.

Un peu cher mais un jeu assez sympa à jouer.
On se régalera devant des élections gagnées à 95%, on rira de la défaite et de l'humiliation des partis adversaires, on dormira avec le sourire en ayant amélioré la compétitivité du pays tout en étant aimé des pauvres et détesté des riches. Le tout en résorbant la dette.
Bon, après, il y un panel large de lois et de mesures à prendre, le jeu est assez simple, peut-être trop mais.
La seule chose que l'on peut reprocher, c'est le manque de pays disponibles, qui d'ailleurs ne changent pas grand chose, ce sont plutot des situations différentes à gérer. Pour le moment, je n'ai joué qu'avec la France, c'est un régal, Macron n'a aucune chance en 2027 face à moi !

Très bon, plein de bons idées !
Chaque partie est un nouveau casse tête à équilibré, et c'est pas facile !
Par contre ils rencontrent des limites dès qu'on a réussi à sortir de la situation initiale du pays proposé : il n'y a pas vraiment de nouvelles crises, le jeu se met à boucler un peu, il n'y pas vraiment de fin possible, certains critère montent naturellement et finissent juste par mettre un terme à la partie, bref c'est dommage que le long terme proposé pour les fins de partie se soit... rien du tout.

Jeu très intéressant, on devrait y jouer à l'école. Le top ca serait un mode de jeu plus poussé et plus détaillé pour les joueurs avertis (par exemple pouvoir rentré dans l'opérationnel avec la mise en place précise des réforme, comment structurer l'assurance chômage, gérer le personnel de l'état qui va pouvoir appliqué vos décision avec une dimension d'attractivité des ressources en fonction du salaire, des avantage's etc... si vous n'avez pas les salariés les plus qualifiés cela pourrait ainsi réduire vos options et pleins d'autres idées de ce type pour aller encore plus loin dans la simulation tout en gardant le jeu tel quel pour les débutants)
