Deadly Daycare VR
Student Project
Deadly Daycare is the capstone game made by Little Chair, a team of 12 from the University of Utah. For many of us, it is our first shipped game. This game was made by 3 engineers, 7 artists/tech-artists, and 2 designers. Music and sound were provided by two students from the Berklee School of Music in Boston. This game was made with Unity, Maya, and various other software.
Cute and Toony Virtual Reality
Using virtual reality, immerse yourself into a toon-styled daycare! With weird and wacky elements, embark on a fantastic experience with adorable-yet-monstrous creatures!
Creature Interaction
Given a bestiary as a guide, explore the daycare for tools and toys required to appease your whimsical wards. From normal objectives like feeding and bathing, to outlandish tasks like rituals and witchcraft, every chaotic creature will have unique demands, attitudes, sizes, and challenges.
Challenging Consequences
As their caretaker, your main goal is to keep the creatures happy. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, as they don’t always play nice. These creatures are dangerous, and if you can’t keep up with their demands, you may have to pay the ultimate price…
Key Features
- A variety of creatures that each pose a unique challenge!
- A highly interactable environment for object exploration!
- See monsters in a new and friendlier light!

I had to babysit someones goldfish for 6 minutes. I killed myself in 4.
Deadly Daycare is a little gem in the large sea of VR games. It is a very fun and simple cartoon-styled game. You just run after some critters and take care of their needs. I'd say this is a nice and relaxing game, but you don't get to relax, you have a daycare to run!
The only downside the game has is that it is short. Currently there only 3 levels. But don't let that stop you. It is still 3 levels of deadly fun.

Nice! The developers quickly fixed an issue that made the game non-playable if you use teleport only. If, like me, you are uncomfortable with the continuous moving mode, then try again now.

Bit buggy but I love the premise of this game. Some of the VR functions mess up and sometimes the tasks you do don't register but again, this is an adorable game. I'm surprised Nintendo didn't make a VR Nintendogs yet...

I loved this! Little bitty demon goat! But could you please add a relaxed mode so we can chill with the goats for a while? It would be perfect to just be able to go in and bathe and pet them.

'Deadly Daycare VR' is a weird virtual pet style game in which you seem to be looking after 2 demonic goats. If you don't take care of their needs like feeding, entertaining them with music and cleaning duties they seem to simply explode. While the "game" (if you can call it that) is a little basic I did find myself spending way too much time taking care of these exploding demon goats. From washing them down with a water quitting squid to feeding them giant legs of ham, these are demanding creatures. Sadly the graphics really are VERY basic with the goats having no animations at all. But it's still a little bit of free silliness and sometimes that is all you want. Just remember it didn't cost you anything before you go to review it.

Cute little VR game that allows you to take care of some weird pets! In this case, a demonic looking goat and some cute twin fish! Each animal has different needs that need to be met, but the game is pretty forgiving in that the pets will show what they need with a little thought bubble above their heads. Objects do have physics, and provide some level of interactivity, which I enjoy. I found myself spending too much time playing around with the xylophone and may or may not have let my pets starve on accident. :( I guess they will meet up with my old tamagotchis in the digital afterlife :(
I also greatly appreciate the included support for index controllers! It really adds to the immersion when your individual finger grip can translate directly to the game. The game runs smooth on my system, which is also a plus. Something fun to goof around in a little sandbox for a while when you're bored :) It's free, give it a try. Never hurts to try something new and mess around on something!
I'm not sure if I was using the fireplace wrong though, one of the rituals requires it's use, but I couldn't get it to light anything on fire. Also, sometimes the physics makes the mallets for the xylophone get lodged on the other side, but other than that I think there aren't really that many bugs I encountered. It'd also be nice if the room had a few more activities for every animal (at least the goat), as well as a few more different pets to take care of. The two fish twins had a perfect pace to keep up with since one would move on to another need while you're attending to the other fish.
Some other feedback might be just a slightly better timer on the window (I think an hourglass would be a nice touch. It would fit the theme, and you could still put the digital time at the bottom).
One thing I can also appreciate is the main menu. You leave all the tools that you can encounter so that the player will mess around with them before starting the actual gameplay. That way they don't have their first attempt at daycare duties spoiled by trying to figure out what everything does!

It's a cute little VR game about taking care of a goat and two fish. I enjoyed it, works well on a Meta Quest 2. Except I cannot be trusted to take care of the twins, once the blue one starts crying, I start crying too.
