Deadlight: Director’s Cut
StorySet in an apocalyptic 1986, the survivors of a zombie outbreak live on among the remains of human civilization, trying to survive this hell on earth by any means necessary. You play Randall Wayne, an introverted and slightly paranoid survivor searching the destroyed streets of Seattle for his loved ones. Through tense platforming and life-threatening zombie encounters you must decide whether to use scarce ammunition and weapons to decimate the horde, or navigate the environment to sneak past them and hide. There’s more than one way to survive against the walking undead remains of the human race, now known only as ‘shadows’.
Deadlight: Director’s Cut enhances the original Deadlight in every way. Improved visuals and textures bring even more detail to the remnants of Seattle, plus enhanced controls and new animations make Randall even more agile. Now you must fight for your life and put your survival skills to the test in Deadlight: Director’s Cut new game mode, the ‘Survival Arena’.Features
- Solve puzzles and overcome environmental hazards in tense 2D platforming
- Decimate zombies with melee combat and weapons, or sneak past using the environment. Combat isn’t always the answer, especially when ammunition, weapons, and resources are scarce
- Separated from his family, search the ruins of a ‘1986’ Seattle and uncover the fate of Randall’s loved ones
- Survive endless waves of zombies in the new ‘Survival Arena’ mode! Use Interactive defences to block zombies and access new areas, or fightback using new weapons like the Machine Gun, Molotov Cocktail and Sniper Rifle to rank above the rest in online-leader boards
- Running at 1080p, with superior controls and new animations, this is how survival was meant to look.
- Watch through the original Developer Diaries and learn more about the Deadlight series!
- Explore the gorgeous art of Deadlight in the Deadlight: Director’s Cut digital art book accessed in-game!

While the storyline may be short, the immersion, particularly through the graphics, direction, and especially the camera movements and focus, is truly impressive. I believe it's a great option for enjoyment during the sale.

Probably best to pick it in a sale. Around 4.3 hours to complete 100% the base game.
I have played this game long time ago.
Its not your average zombie like game where you shoot a lot. The games puts you in a apocalypse zombie in 1986.
Its more of a platformer game with some elements of puzzles and some shooting involved.
But the game teaches you that its better to escape from the zombies than to fight them in most of the situations.
The movement its kinda rough or slow in an intentional way. So you feel that you are surviving and not just destroying hordes of zombies.

Despite its age and issues it is a short, yet well-made game. Not the best story but was definitely a very enjoyable one. I recommend this game, but only really while it's on sale.

Decent Steam Deck game and a very original mixture of genres - 2D action platformer + zombie survival game + puzzle game + narrative game. While each element works well on its own, when combined the game does have some problems.
First of all the movement feels... off. During combat or running the main character is very swift, but whenever you need to climb something or do some more complex platforming he suddenly becomes very slow and heavy. It creates a very weird dissonance between subsequent parts of the game, and it threw me off a lot. Don't get me wrong, both the platforimng and combat are pretty good on their own, but I don't think they mix together very well. The puzzles are fine, I guess. There isn't really a lot of them and most of the segments which include them transform into platforming sections once you solve them, but in this case it feels more natural.
And then there's the world and the story. The general vibe is very similar to The Last of Us - we have to fight these monsters, but people are monsters too sometimes etc. The main character of the game is written in a pretty interesting way, but it doesn't always show. Throughout most of the game he's insufferable, but after skimming through the pages of his diary which you are scattered across the levels you can see that he's a pretty complex character. The game also delves into psychological aspects of how a zombie apocalypse could affect people's lives which while interesting is also handled in a weird way. There are like these singular moments of realisation that "hey, I just thought of something interesting we could write into the game" but it rarely goes beyond that. The game is honestly full of great ideas, but it's very clear that this was the studio's first game - even despite this version supposedly being the "director's cut".
Despite the shortcomings though, I still think this is an ok game and I had a good time with it. I think all the ideas present in the game make it worthwile, even if you'll sometimes find yourself wondering if they shouldn't have been done differently.

Such a classic game. I played this in the early days of the Xbox 360 and saw that it was on Steam. A excellent rainy day game with an excellent story. The world is definitely fitting for an apocalyptic game such as this. The levels are challenging, but not impossible. Controls are very simple. Most of the time you will feel on edge, which is a plus for a game world such as this. I recommend.

Pretty janky, and the story isn't particulary interesting, but still a decent limbo-like. Visually still holds up pretty well. Worth playing for fans of the genre
