My review might be somewhat biased since this game was a great part of my childhood, generating golden memories with a friend I used to play together on the Xbox 360...
This game is just wonderful and fun as I remember, the sheer creativity that you can go about with this game is something that I missed a lot, especially combining weapons together for some ridiculous albeit funny uses. Actually, that's what games should be! Ridiculous and funny! Something a lot of AAA games nowadays seem to completely disregard, as the developers give you the absolute safe slop of a game. ANYWAY!
It's not that this game doesn't have its faults, escort missions are better than I remember since you can actually give items for your escortees to defend themselves, and most of the time you can just run past the zombies and they'll follow without taking much time. STILL! Escort missions in a zombie apocalypse game, and one that has strict time into it... Let's just say I used to suffer a lot in the past haha
Also, I just love the psychopath human bosses, to this date... It's also what stands this game apart from other zombie apocalypse shooters - Each and every psychopath has a distinct personality and resolve, each one with its own mechanics, and let's not forget the cutscenes when they appear and die which are just... MWAH, chef's kiss.
When it comes to the game, it's close to perfection to me. If only they were a bit more generous with the timed events (or changed it somehow), and escort missions were a bit more convenient...
NOW, when it comes to the PC port. It runs very well on my rig, the quality of the image is paramount and the game runs seemlessly with no appearant lag spikes. Haven't checked but it's probably running steady at 60 fps. My main pet peeve is the pad support for this game, which is completely horrendous, so I had to play with a keyboard... I also can't set fullscreen off for some reason, like... come on devs...

Now all we need is a remaster of this game.
If they do the same as they did with the DR1 remaster, then that remaster will be peak Dead Rising.
But this game still holds up, it's fun to just figure out what items works with what, making combo weapons is fun!
Saving items incase they can be combined when you find a house like that is insanely fun.

"Dead Rising 2" is a chaotic and entertaining zombie survival game that allows players to let loose their creativity by crafting a wide range of weapons from common household items.
The game's over-the-top action and humor make it a truly unique experience.

The Gameplay:
It's the same as Dead Rising 1, but you can craft weapons now which is a step up. A lot of the invincibility frames and guns being useless 75% of the time is also there, so combat is ok. It's fun to kill zombies with the funny weapons, but that's about it. Oh right you can play the game co-op which is incredible add value for this game. The biggest downside is that the PC port does not support controller natively.
The Story:
Somehow a more goofy and more serious story all at the same time. They have some terrible story logic at times where it's embarassing to see certain scenes, but they have one powerful moment that made me sad forever. The story isn't half bad, and if you're following the overarching narrative then it does add value. The new MC Chuck is likeable enough where I did not feel I lost anything without Frank West, but it felt like it was an incomplete story.
The Visuals:
It is a graphically better than it's predecessor, and while not the most beautiful thing, it holds up well even today. The character designs are memorable. I understand the location, but a fair amount of it kinda was monotnous slot machine rooms.
The Sound:
The wildly goofy characters stand out and are at the very least entertaining. The music was pretty cool, especially when you craft weapons with the incredibly energetic punk rock playing while you duct tape whatever you are intending to use together. They also did a good job of making certain survivors sound real annoying… too well in fact.
The Experience:
Coming off the heels of playing the 1 remake, I am surprised how well the 2nd game holds up compared to it. That said it was not without it's problems. It had a unique but somewhat familiar vista with the shopping mall again mixed with some casino aesthetics. The psycopaths were very different (except the snipers) however I felt like something was missing from them. The co-op experience that you can have playing the whole game together was the best thing they could do for this game. It does make a lot of the game easier, but the draw from this game was never the difficulty. Too bad the DLC Case West was never released for the PC version of this game.

Being a longtime fan of dead rising i played DRDR and absolutely loved it, made me buy the games on pc to replay them again and im having a blast playing DR2. Hope they give DR2 the same treatment but maybe with slightly better voice acting, if you started with DRDR I definitely recommend this game as well!

Amazing sequel to DR1, It's a shame that Case Zero and West are still exclusive to Xbox 360, after all they're the true prologue & epilogue to this game. plus the lack of modern controller support via an official update, there's a mod for that.
