DAYMARE: 1998 is a third-person survival horror with hardcore survival mechanics and hard to kill enemies. It requires a strategical approach to combat and puzzles and offers a multi-character point of view on the story, revealing a deep and obscure lore. The scene is set with a secret research facility, a deadly chemical weapon and a special security team to investigate this incident with the potential to become much more than just a security breach. Follow the steps of an elite soldier, a helicopter pilot and a forest ranger, as they play out their roles in an event that transforms one peaceful small town into a deadly zone and its citizens into bloodthirsty monsters. Take the creatures down first, before looking for any clues and evidence to bring more sense to the mess. Keep track of your itinerary, as resources are scarce in a situation like this! Anything can happen when your daymares become real… Fans of the iconic cinematographic brands and classical gloomy survival horror games of the '90s will be thrilled, seeing how DAYMARE: 1998 recreates the atmosphere of the most beloved works from the end of the millennium and places a typical yet fresh story in the middle of it. The plot unfolds through the eyes of various characters, putting players in the shoes of different personalities that will guide them through their theories and doubts about the situation.

It's a loveletter to all 90s movies.
For me it's almost better than the Resident Evil remakes just because of all the easter eggs in this game.
I really recommend to play it.
Puzzles are solid/not too hard, funny violent scenes, good voice acting, ultra violent cutscenes, 1000... movie references, awesome atmosphere.
9/10

They did a really awesome job on this one, greenhorns doing a perfect third-person survival-horror,
rare to me.
I liked the design, the looks, the enemies and even the chars.
It will never take much to do a perfect game besides the great ability to programm it.
prefer this game before the second game, even if it doesn't have special technics
it is perfect as it is. hope they will come back doing games this style if they want to do a third game.
best wishes and thumbs, just give it a shot :)

Can I recommend buying this game? Well, "Yes" and "No".
First thing to tell is, that this title is o.c. totally RE-inspired: We got a 3rd-person-view, a Zombie-outbreak, the military is involved as well as scientists...the guns, the clues, the story - all is quite similar to the Resident Evil-series.
Graphics (not the facial-design!!!) are pretty decent, so is the soundtrack. Until this point I like to recommend "Daymare" to all RE-fans out there, giving it a 7/10.
Now to the bad aspects of this game:
1) Inventory-management is cancer (if you like reloading your gun in mid-fight, you have to open the inventory, choose the right ammo-type, combine it with your gun, close the inventory...boom, you´re dead)
Who came up with this annyoing idea???
2) You can´t crouch, you can´t climb, you can´t jump...you can´t destroy objects, like windows, wooden boards etc. Everything is bulletproof, except the enemies. The maps are very linear...
3) Icons of collectibles sometimes clip through floors and walls
4) Skipping dialogues/cutscenes is not possible
5) As mentioned before, the facial-design of the NPCs is ridiculously awful
6) Some clues just don´t make any sense (f.e. the fort-clue in the park).
Conclusion: In terms of sound and graphics/lighting and the (stolen) story, "Daymare" is a nice game.
The above mentioned points 1-6 make it a lot worse.
I bought it for around 4 € and this is quite ok. But there is so much to improve that I can´t recommend buying this game for more than 5 € maximum.
EDIT: Two more things that annoyed me the most:
a) They never give you enough health so you have to fight the hardest enemies half-dead
b) When on low health a constant warning-beep damages your ears. And since you hardly find any meds, this is almost permanent!!
