Darksiders II

Darksiders II is parallel to the previous game. The Four Horsemen (War, Strife, Fury, and Death) are the last of the Nephilim, fusions of angels and demons who waged war on creation. To preserve the balance of the Universe, the Four, tired of conquest, received incredible powers from the Charred Council in exchange for slaughtering the rest of the Nephilim. The Horseman Death trapped the souls of his fallen brethren in an amulet, earning the title of Kinslayer, among others (though he kept its preservation a secret, since the Council ordered the Nephilim's souls destroyed). While War is charged with his crimes, the horseman Death, sure that his brother is innocent, sets out on a personal mission to erase his brother's 'crime' and resurrect humanity. He first travels to the Icy Veil—a dimension between the three kingdoms of Heaven, Hell, and Earth—to seek the Keeper of Secrets for proof of War's innocence and the way to restore Earth. The Keeper of Secrets, also known as the Crowfather, tells Death that he must go to the Tree of Life in order to restore humanity. The Crowfather, bitter about being given the Nephilim amulet (which torments him without end), refuses to let Death pass and attacks him in the shape of War. Death is thus forced to kill the Crowfather, but the Amulet shatters and embeds itself in his chest, knocking him out and sending him into a portal created by the Crowfather's death.

this game did so many things right but also a few wrong - some subjectively wrong, some objectively.
the for me greatest things i enjoyed: the character death and its english voiceactor (fits really well!) the scottish accent of the maker characters, most of the music, the combat-animations the overall story and the female designs which weren't influenced by "woke-culture" back then. also the dungeons were challenging but doable which ends up in a great mix between willpower to solve it and a bit of frustration in a good way.
- the things i subjectively didn't enjoy that much: the fetching quest. (stopped doing most longer ones like "collect these stones" etc. not a personal fan of those. also sometimes the parkour was sometimes a bit annoying with the wall-climbing response and the timelimited parkour wasn't my fabvourite either but there were just about two so thats okay. - and the quest were you had to fight through multiple arenas were also a bit too overused for my taste even the combat and skills were fun and cool to use.
- the things i objectively think were a problem: the console port (the navigation etc) is obvious and i think warmaster edition/darksiders1 was here a bit better in my opinion (even darksiders2 improved in many things in comparison to darksiders1 (where e.g. some boss-fights were a bit unfun for me, unlike darkidsers2)
but the biggest problems which were a big negative for me previously:
- the sound-bugs (which are really annoying and happened relative regularly
- the crash/freeze during the archon-cutscene - which should have been fixed and only got fixed for me by leveling up and immediately go to the archon to trigger the scene. (thanks to really helpful comments in several forums i had to research to fix this bug - this shouldn't be a thing in a final several year old game BUT i got it fixed and never had problems like these before or after so i cannot say its a massive issue and the rest of the game is so good i cannot let these things count too much.
- the end was pretty cool, but for me the end of darksiders1 was a bit more dramatic.
(i also want to say its easy to accidently miss some quest or even a few characters at least for some time - happened to me at least x) liked every side-character! oh and about the loot: the loot-progression is okay but could be better, chest often weren't really rewarding, didn't like half of the standard armor designs but the unique armor-set designs (maker-set, angel of death, and especially shadow of death and crow) i really liked those designs! unfortunally you couldn't improve them. wish there would be more of such cool armor sets especially when there often is not much of reards. - about the weapons: sickles are awesome! axe, hammer and mace felt good, "lance/speer" felt not soo good and i wasn't also a big fan of all the gauntlet/fist weapons personally even the designs here were often pretty cool too as for all unique weapons!)
and even i think the voice of war is damn cool - and i might be in the minority saying this - but i think the voice of death fits the character even better and sounds even cooler. very curious if we hear the voiceactor of death for dakrsiders4 too (since war's is basically confirmed ^^)
(sorry for the previous rage-rating with my broken keyboard. but i had a bad day and was really angry about the bugs/the crash. i hope my previous too early and too emotional triggered rating won't affect the games rating and will disappear.)

Top.
