Darkanoid is a 21st century update of the challenging, frantically paced block-breakers of old. Enter the void and fight your way through a hardcore gaming experience from the heyday of action arcade games.
The game features two main modes.
Classic mode is a painful trial in the best tradition of the genre.
There are currently 40 levels and 4 Bosses. This will prove more than enough if you’re willing to move beyond the easiest difficulty. Choose from 3 different levels of difficulty – Noob, Padawan and Master. How much of a challenge you are looking for?
In order to give you some hope of victory, we’ve included 11 different special effects and power-ups. Some will make the game easier, some will be challenging to use, and one will be dangerous even to you.
Your firegun and shield will be your main tools in Darkanoid. To give you an idea of the harshness of space, we’ve also added Teleports and Flying Blocks.
What would you say to a double-platform on the BONUS levels?
BONUS levels are located at the other end of a wormhole, but of course it’s not *that* easy. First you must find the chip key and defeat the boss guarding the wormhole.
Black Zone engineers worked for many cycles to provide Cosmic Aid, a second chance for your platform if things don’t go smoothly. Visit the Store to customize your platform with a unique upgrade. Of course for all these improvements, you’ll need Darkens, which are hidden inside the hardest blocks and on BONUS levels.
In Survival mode, you must break through a wave of blocks, drones and bosses, all moving towards you. Your task is to survive as long as possible. You start with one life, and can only earn additional lives by defeating a Boss.
Will you survive to approach the outer limits of the Dark Zone? Survival mode also includes two unique power-ups: Entropy and Kelvin Zero.

«Darkanoid»
Darkanoid is the remake of the classic Arkanoid only with enhanced, colorful, detailed graphics.
You control a paddle and destroy bricks. Knocking out all the bricks moves you to the next level. Special bricks release power-ups boosters from wider paddles to the ball splitter.
Gameplay:
The controls are both simple and streamlined. You can move your paddle with the mouse. You can also tweak the mouse sensitivity in the options menu.
The mouse works better than the controller and gives more smooth, responsive experience; it needs to so you can enjoy the game.

Gameplay / Story
About Akanoid: It's a breakout clone that first appeared as an arcade machine. In Darkanoid, the player has to let a ball ricochet off with a paddle in order to knock colored stones out of a block. You mustn't miss the ball, otherwise you'll lose. There are numerous improvements over the classic for example power-ups, enemy spaceships and laser cannons, since it also takes place in space. In addition, the width of the racket and the number of balls available to you can change. The game has several levels and a finishing level. The gameplay is enhanced by various goodies that, for example, lengthen or shrink the racket or accelerate the ball. The game offers you 2 game modes, such as the classic or a survival mode.

Gameplay / Geschichte
Info zu Akanoid: Es ist ein Breakout-Klon, der zuerst als Arcade-Automat erschienen ist. Der Spieler muss wiederum in Darkanoid einen Ball mit einem Paddle gezielt abprallen lassen, um farbige Steine aus einem Block zu schlagen. Dabei darf man den Ball nicht verfehlen, sonst hat man verloren. Es gibt zahlreiche Verbesserungen gegenüber dem Klassiker zum Beispiel Power-ups, gegnerische Raumschiffe und Laserkanonen, da es auch im Weltraum spielt. Außerdem kann sich die Breite des Schlägers verändern und die Anzahl der Bälle die dir zur Verfügung stehen. Das Spiel verfügt über mehrere Level und einen Abschlusslevel. Aufgewertet wird das Gameplay durch verschiedene Goodies, die zum Beispiel den Schläger verlängern beziehungsweise schrumpfen lassen oder den Ball beschleunigen. Das Spiel bietet dir 2 Spielmodi, wie den klassischen oder einen Überlebensmodus.

Fazit
Ein Kindheitstraum geht in Erfüllung. Ich mochte es als Kind und habe es geliebt. Dieses Spiel erinnert mich daran zurück und lässt Erinnerungen wieder Wirklichkeit werden. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Not a bad dynamic arcade game. Quite difficult, often have to replay levels. Unpretentious graphics, but pleasing to the eye. Many levels, there are various bonuses + bosses.
I think that to kill time Darkanoid is definitely the best.

Darkanoid is the same old school game from the nineties that you or your parents may have played. The gameplay is not unusual: you go through simple levels, sometimes you get bosses as a bonus. The usual, but appropriate graphics, soundtrack throughout the game and a bit of nostalgia for old games. It's all about Darkanoid.

Oh yeah! the best version of the great arkanoid. The one-man added to the collection. Classic with modern graphics, I think that there will be no better versions, except maybe some kind of 3D mod) but still I think the limit has been reached and there is no better option than this one)

Tried it again for a short bit. They seem to have fixed a few issues that I had mentioned as well as added achievements. They also added gamepad support but it's difficult to navigate menus as well as control the paddle with it. Stick to KB+M for now.
Other than that, it's not a bad arkanoid clone. Currently in Early Access so I'd imagine there's more to come over time. Price is cheap so worth a try if you like this sort of game.
