This game is no longer available to be purchased, and online apparently isn't available either any more. It's a weird feeling to grapple with as this is one of my favorite games of all time. The remaster is out but there's so much wrapped up in the original for me. So many good memories, overcoming challenges, trolling and being trolled invading and being invaded. So many playthroughs with friends in jolly cooperation. Thanks for everything dark souls.

edit: oh yeah, ok, check the discussions page in order to play online using the DCSM mod and logging onto the space wars servers. Honestly if they're not even going to maintain the multiplayer aspects of the game they should give the remastered version for free or at least keep the 50% discount up....

Who is this review even for if you can't buy this version anymore? Anyway, bought this in 2012, started and stopped like 3 times, finally finished it in 2022. Hated a lot of it, but in a way that kept me going and motivated. It's a good experience and a fantastic video game. Glad I stuck with it.

Before you get a $600 steam key of this game, or before you want to play it, something to point out is that you need to get the DSFix mod to get the game in a better playable state. You’re better off playing the remastered version of DS1. With that being said, it’s just Dark Souls. 10/10

vile, broken mess of a game. Frequently unfair and chock full of mechanics that are just not fun to interact with. Spawned an entire genre of hot garbage imitations, including several by the same developers as this one. Miyazaki continues to grow more powerful thanks to this disasterpiece and he will soon reach critical mass and destroy the universe so that he can create a new universe, which will be the same as the old one except that it is on fire. Highly recommend it.
