Dark Devotion

The eternal suffering of The Templars is both a blessing and a curse – salvation is born through sacrifice, and no sacrifice is too great to praise your God. A mystical temple teeming with a strange life-like energy of its own awaits you on your sacred crusade of suffering and redemption that will take you to the depths of traditions spanning centuries – and leave you questioning your faith and your own existence. Developed by French studio Hibernian Workshop and published by The Arcade Crew, Dark Devotion features a rich, detailed and immersive narrative that unfolds a sombre tale of your religion’s undeniable calling where every encounter is a challenge of suffering, piety and conviction – but most importantly, it’s a fight to the death.

----------------------------------------------------------
-Roguelike (the roguelike elements in this type of game are a good and wrong decision at the same time, will work for some but i definitely see not working for some people)
-Most weapons are locked and only obtainable in certain sections of the game in each run
-Unlocking the differents paths on the map is very confusing and unlocking each power up tablet is vital for game progress, which makes this map desing very annoying
-Faith is your currency for temples and gates, and at the same time faith is your magic, this duality makes faith used almost exclusively for healing or to unlock a gate , preventing most of the time being used for actual combat magic, so most of the time youll fight with swords and maces and almost nothing with magic.
-Curses are EXTREMELY annoying and you get one for being hit or for even entering a room
-----------------------------------------------------------
So?
Do i recommend it? Yes,but its a game that will annoy you from the beginning with the curse system that persist throghout the whole game. like most games in the genre It starts off quite difficult especially for someone who was never played this type of game, but it eases up around the 2nd or 3rd hour of the game when you get the first "fixed" item from the blacksmith and when you start getting blessings for each run.It reminded me a lot of "Salt of sanctuary" another 2d soulslike that i loved , would have loved if this game got a sequel because after 37 hours of playing and finishing it 100% , im still hooked.
