Crossroads Inn is a real-time management sim with role-playing games elements. The game consists of two unique modes offering totally different experiences.
In Sandbox mode gamers will focus solely on managing their business and economy – to build their very own tavern, hire and oversee staff, manage the supply chains and create new dish recipes.
In Campaign mode, micromanagement is just a prelude to a rich story as the kingdom is in turmoil and a shift of power is expected. Your Inn will soon attract the attention of important political and military figures, who are desperately trying to hold on to the reins of power. Gamers will become part of a large-scale drama full of political intrigues, vivid characters, treacherous NPC’s and dangerous quests inspired by RPG games – You will even have a damsel in distress to save!

Such a cute game. Absolutely NOT worth the advertised $25 USD. It's too unpolished, buggy, and glitchy for such a hefty price-tag. I'd say wait for a sale and pick it up for 10 bucks or less.
Some quick pointers - just save yourself the headache and turn OFF the Puppies and pets and Bathroom DLCs in the Options menu - they are both horrifically broken and will make playing the campaign a nightmare. Also, for building your Inn, be aware you can build a basement, however the steps MUST be placed within the initial central area of building area - 10 wide and 8 deep. Anything outside that area and your cellar steps won't work.
I really wish the Dev could have cleaned this up more, it could have been such an awesome game.
The Campaign story is actually VERY good, but be aware it IS a patience game so if you like fast paced games, this is not for you. I only recommend the game if you can pick it up on sale and keep in mind the problems that exist.

This game seriously don't deserve the mixed reviews. I almost didn't buy it because of them, thinking "Oh, if so many people have trouble with it it must be in a really bad shape."
But then, it went on sale and I bought it immediately ! I had a lot of fun playing the campaign and it was a really nice surprise to see that the game has a really cool story too. I've encountered only a few bugs (1 pathfinding issue and around 3 HUD issues) and they were not game breaking or anything like that, I "fixed" the issues they caused in my inn with a few clicks.
What I think happens is people lack the knowledge to play the game and call it broken when its actually functioning. I know that sounds weird... the game doesn't always tell you exactly how things work but if you take a bit of time to learn it you will have no issues progressing.
Now I'll explain why I'm defending this title so much. By writing a unfair negative review, you lead other potential patrons into not buying the game, therefore not supporting the developers. Companies need money to survive and while I believe squashing bugs is an important task, releasing DLC's make it possible for a small developer to keep working on it's game.
Sadly there aren't many tavern sims out there, but in my honest opinion this has the potential to be the best, the game isn't perfect, but it's playable and very enjoyable. I'd like to see what they are capable of in the future and I will GLADLY buy any future DLC.

I am not certain what game the several negative reviewers were playing, but I can assure you it was not the one I played. I have visited and revisited this game several times as updates continue, and DLCs roll out. Yes, extremely early in the Early Access phase there were several bugs, but none that I ever found to be game-breaking. In short order, the Devs fixed those bugs (mostly pathfinding type) and it improved greatly.
Some people are complaining that it is too difficult - well, that is subjective. It is challenging, but nothing that can not be easily overcome with a tad bit of thought and planning. My best playthrough I was growing most of the foods needed, and had a wide variety of dishes/drinks to offer customers. So, I am baffled by those who claim that 'you can't offer more than bread and wine'.
Anyhoo, there are several reviewers that seem to have had a miserable time at this. Whelp, you can't please everyone. Honestly, if you enjoy management games this is a gem. The tutorial is pretty clear and straightforward, teaching you the basics of the game. The rest you learn by trial and error, no participation trophies here! Good solid planning and fiscal responsibility is rewarded tenfold - as are poor choices and lack of foresight. If you set up your Inn properly, it will become basically self-sufficient and run smoothly. If you don't, it WILL crash and burn (sometimes literally).
Management game lovers take note, this is one to try out.

I'm giving a conditional recommendation for this game. My suggestion for average player is to wait for some more bug fix patches.
First of all, I truly enjoy this game and have played 100+ hours. The front end of this game -- the graphics, the music and the soothing atmosphere they create -- is very good. I spent days building my dream inn and felt proud after it.
However, this game does have a lot of funny bugs. They can be resolved using even funnier ways, but it takes a lot of time to figure out how. There are some serious backend issues -- all of them can be good tech company interview questions I guess. I'm listing a few here.
1) Doors, windows and items randomly pop up as the game goes.
2) When I try to delete one floor tile, multiple fioor tiles gets deleted.
3) Staircases cannot be deleted even when no one is using. The funny solution is first try sell it as an item -- the game won't allow you to do that either, but then you can remove it now in the staircase tab.
4) Animation for Act 4 and 5 are not sync-ed with the sound, and are broken.
5) Save a game half way through a quest will cause the quest to disappear or terminate.
6) The database lookup in the worker's menu is poor; it often has lingering results from last search.
7) The reward of quests only shows up in the next dialogue box of something else. 6) and 7) look like the same problem -- some up and down cycle confusion in the backend...
There is only one truly unplayable bug so far in my pay-to-test career: workers can get confused in path-finding after floor layout has changed. This is especially true when there are multiple paths to the same room. The workers will stuck in the room forever even there's a clear path to leave. Please fix this.
The new function I want to see the most is changing floor plan freely. Currently you can't remove a room block if there's another one on top of it. I understand that civil engineering was not as advanced yet back then, but please at least allow swapping between rooms, e.g. move one block of a room to a neighboring room.
Another suggestion is to have a master reset function like the one in Kenshi so that workers can start from some respawn point all over again.
========================================
One more bug to report. For some fat powered lamp, the workers try to refill the lamp from the other side of the wall and fail. This causes the fat left on the ground. Sometimes the workers cannot pick the fat up again, nor can I delete the room cell. This is one severe bug in my opinion. I've been avoiding lamp on the wall since I encountered this bug.

There is so much that is a mess with this game tbh.
I really like it because Im a sucker for management games.
They have come along way with this game but still cant manage to fix simple things that should be obvious.
Why cant I move furniture from one floor to another? If I build furniture on a floor, its stuck on that floor.
Why Is it, that It says I have a 100% success rate on a skill and it still gives me a failure when using that skill? That doesnt make any sense at all.
There is so much more I could go trough with this game that I just wish the developers could fix.
With all that said, its still a cool concept of a game that does give you hours of fun if you are into this theme.
Its just gonna be somewhat frustrating from time to time to work around bad game development.

This game is seriously underrated. Most negative reviews complain about the bugs--there are a few, but none that prevented me from solving the issue and moving forward. The main tips to prevent issues is to save often and use CTRL to place items outside of an auto-lock grid.

When it comes to the positive aspects of the game i can only agree with the other people who gave it positive reviews. The game has a great atmosphere and a wonderfully executed gameplay concept focused arround micromanaging your own inn.
But the main reason i want to write this review are peoples negative reviews, especially the ones about all the "tons of bugs" that so many are complaining about. Because quite frankly: Yeah i encountered glitches, back then path-finding had a tendency to glitch out and some people stopped moving. Fixed that by simply saving and reloading - that was fixed months ago tho. People can currently still fall below stairs which is pretty damn rare. However placing a door on the wall next to those people solved that issue when it pops up - and i am sure that just like the last bug i mentioned this one will be fixed soon enough too.
And when it comes to the final thing i would like to adress: people complaining about an experience with gamebreaking bugs wich does not allow them to play more than a few hours. Well i would like to give my perspective on how "prone to breaking" the game is. 75h played and my current save game is at day 302 (which prolly took atleast 70 of the 75 hours) - i will make sure to keep you guys up to date on when this "easily breaking" experience will find an involuntary end ;)
I am not saying the game isnt rough arround the edges, but i am following the development from (almost) the very beginning, and let me tell you that it has only improved in every aspect so far and i am looking forward to new content and more improvements to the game. And you should give this game a shot too (if the concept interests you. I wont claim this game is for everyone, but if it sounds like something you would enjoy then go for it!)
On a final note, sorry for not actually giving a proper in depth review of the positive aspects of the game, but i leave that to my previous speakers! Don't let the negative reviews discourage you from giving this game a shot!
