Crimson Spires
The small mining town of Bataille, Missouri has been cordoned off from the outside world for six months. The inhabitants have no idea why. All they know is that ever since the so-called “Contingency,” planes no longer fly overhead, strange creatures have been glimpsed beyond the perimeter, and large mechanical towers will gun down anyone who tries to escape. As you–Sheriff Erika Wright–search for the truth, you must listen to the advice of a serial killer, mingle with extreme conspiracy theorists, and negotiate with vampires.
Your struggle to protect the people of Bataille will uncover startling secrets and forge unlikely alliances. Eventually, you must choose a partner in your quest to unveil the mysteries around you.
Amidst the horrors facing Bataille, romance can blossom with the partner in whom you trust. This epic story contains four distinct story branches with Julian, Maddy, Liam, or August. Each branch reveals unique secrets about the mysteries of the towers and a chance to find love.

This is an incredible game.
Crimson Spires is essentially a dating sim combined with a horror-mystery, but WOW does it transcend those labels. It's extremely well-written (especially August and his route), the characters are fully fleshed out and have their own motivations and secrets, and the atmosphere of the game is at once grim and exciting. It delves into not only the mystery of the town's situation, but also into philosophy, spirituality, and the human psyche. Each character's story sheds a little more light on the mystery, so I recommend playing them all.
All that said - I cannot recommend playing the New Game +. It reads as a forced polyamory fanfiction in which a lesbian is pushed into a relationship with men. It doesn't feel like an extension of the game and doesn't reveal anything about the mystery that we don't already know by that point.
Overall, I'm giving it a 4.5/5 stars.

I wanted this game since i played the demo and it left me flubbergast.
I rly loved the game, quite more than I thought I would, also because MC is a full fledged tsundere and stubborn, very stubborn, but I rly enjoyed to see how she discovered the truth and how the Li melt her more and more.
Still, the game is a mix of horror, mystery and thriller and I enjoyed how mature it was written. Don't expect, in a horror title, that everything will be perfect, nope, and I am glad for it.
Sometimes the romance felt a bit short, but when I look back at it, it makes sense, but still, when there was romance, I got some great doki doki moments.
The story was surprising, scared me sometimes but left me also laughing or just stunned because of revelations. The writing was super, everyone felt so alive.
I also have to say I usually don't like eng va, but they did all a great job! I rly enjoyed it! (I am just very spoiled with german and jp va)
I love Julian and Liam, Liam my pookie-bear and Julian my cutiepie (lol charlotte, its your influence) - but holy, the secret route was (for me) amazing and I love how MC was at the end (damn girl, you did it) and how everything will be at the end - I accepted not everything will be answered but more important, I need to see them all happy <3<3
So, if you like mature written horror-thriller, with some huge mystery elements and you love story over romance otome, get it! I can rly recommend it. But dont expect a cute, everything is perfect at the end story, this is it not.
8/10
(the art reminds me to the 80's anime style, I rly enjoyed it and also the music was great)

i think its one of the most overlooked VNs out there. Great setting, makes me think a little of S King. Did 2 routes out of 4. Really liked the blondie one, especially the end. Vampire guy is ok. Love how different paths brought parts of the story together.

I don't think i'll ever find a visual novel with as interesting a story as this one. I would do anything for a sequel. Even anything adjacent to this story i would love.
