It may look simple, but there is a lot of room for tactics

Very interesting traditional rogue-like and well worth the $3. The story seems to be kinda personal with some abstract stuff thrown in in-between. Seems like the achievements aren't working though.

I really like the mini stories within the game. You can tell the stories come from a very real place which is very refreshing in a lot of ways.
-the game-play is a very nice mix of rogue-like and turn-based.
-the music is great.
-has controller support.
-challenging but not annoyingly difficult.
I really hope to see more from this developer.
Its one of those diamonds in the rough and deserves more recognition.

A nu cheeki breeki iv damke the roguelike.
7/10 it's kind of jank and to be frank it's one of those games trying to be artsy.

This is an odd little roguelike. It's a very zoomed in map that is on screen and the aesthetic is very lofi pixelart with letters for the monsters. It's kind of ASCII plus but barely plus. There's some cool music that sounds like it came from a niche 1970s horror film.
I'm not sure how much procedural generation there is in the levels. There seems at least to be several set areas like the start and an area later with a fight in progress before you get there.
There's different weapons to pick up and armour- just one armour for the whole body like "hoody" or "rags". The weapons break. When you kill stuff you get xp and when you level up you can pick one of two skills.
Clearing a level gets you a "life" and when you die you go back to the start of the level until you run out of lives then it's game over. The level seems to get regenned or it could be picking from a number of possible ones.
There seems to be adventure game like plot set pieces. I came to the first one and had to do a couple of things like it was an rpg maker kind of game without combat before getting back to the normal roguelike action.
On the whole the game isn't bad. It gets annoying having to do the adventure game bit over again when you restart and luck seems to play too big a part in whether you will succeed or not. I think it's worth the money though as it's not that much.
