Captain Kalani Definitive Edition
Capitán Kalani it’s a 2D action platformer game inspired in the old NES games, having big influence in titles like Batman, Megaman, Shatterhand and others. The history is set in a future where the life is comfortable above the clouds and the machines are a big part of the daily basis.
Taking inspiration from the old NES games, the difficulty scales considerably, the mechanics are the basics of any platformer, with one exception: you will lose some of your abilities as you progress.
The game is divided into 5 episodes, each one with a different aesthetic and set; You have a life counter that, when it runs out, will return you to the beginning of the level where you are, so be very careful.
The music is 8 bit chiptune, very nostalgic. connect your CRT monitor and transport yourself to the 80’s

The game is enjoyable. Graphics are awesome and I enjoy fighting an assortment of enemies and bosses. There is a part where you ride on a bike and fly a ship that breakup the basic on-foot stages. Unfortunately due to a certain part in the game that I mentioned in the "discussions section", I cannot proceed to complete the game. Hopefully the game developer finally replies with help.

Update: the bug mentioned below has been fixed.
A fun throwback to classic action games.
Your hero can shoot with his weapon and use his jetpack to double jump. There isn't anything else to see here. The gun has a limited number of bullets in the chamber, but it automatically reloads after you're out. Manual reloading is not an option.
Controls function OK with a keyboard, but the gamepad has some issues. I'm not sure whether it varies by type, but the command for moving through text and pause were both stuck on the same button. It's not a major deal because I just skipped the text with a keyboard.
Your opponents are robots that can be disabled with a few of shots. Coins they drop allow you to purchase health and extra lives from vending machines. But you can easily ignore them. This is due to the fact that you cannot really lose the game. You start with three lives, but losing them all returns you to the stage's first screen with all three lives.
A stage consists of four or five screens and concludes with a boss fight. It isn't too difficult because you have a shield that slowly recharges and a good amount of health. If you're feeling courageous, you may avoid the enemies and go right for the boss. There's a generous amount of content here because you will go through many chapters that include several stages. Even with basic art, each chapter has a different theme.
Unfortunately, a bug in the second chapter ruins the experience. There's a shoot'em-up section that works fine. However, if you die, you respawn at the start of a stage in a spaceship. Since you can't play a normal stage with a spaceship and because you can't restart a chapter, your entire progress is lost. All you can do is start a new game.

Great art style, soundtrack, and interesting storyline! Could use some help checking the input systems in the main menu, because when using a mouse/keyboard it can be a bit tricky, but if you have an Xbox controller everything works smoothly. Super recommended if you are looking for retro games like contra, metroid, etc.
