Call to Arms offers an innovative mix of real-time strategy and 3rd, as well as 1st person controls. Set in the time of modern warfare, the game offers realistically modeled vehicles and heavy weaponry, as well as dozens of firearms and customizations. Command your troops to victory or fight by yourself in the 3rd or 1st person action mode. Conquer rural areas, factories, railway stations and towns during intense missions and use the environment to your advantage. Cover is everywhere, and almost everything can be destroyed. An unseen amount of challenges are awaiting you in exciting, yet competitive online combat supported by Steamworks! Control several dozen units and place your squads in cover, flank your enemies and support your allies while advancing to the next key objective. Plant claymores, fortifiy FOBs, or set up mortar positions. There is an endless amount of options to choose in the RTS mode of Call to Arms.

Es ist ein Spiel, welches man hin und wieder mal gut spielen kann, aber wenn man zu viel Zeit reinsteckt kann es auch irgendwann recht schnell einseitig oder langweilig werden.

"Call to Arms" ist ein Echtzeit-Strategiespiel (RTS) mit ansprechender Grafik, das jedoch einige Schwächen aufweist. Ein bedeutender Kritikpunkt ist das Fehlen umfassender Tutorials, was den Einstieg für neue Spieler erschwert. Zudem ist in der kostenlosen Version der Einzelspielermodus deaktiviert; dieser wird erst durch den Erwerb der kostenpflichtigen Basic Edition freigeschaltet. Die Preisgestaltung erscheint dabei fair, und auch die im Spiel angebotenen Käufe unter 5 € sind erschwinglich. Allerdings kann die vergleichsweise geringe Spielerbasis (während meiner Tests etwa 150–180 Spieler) die Suche nach Mitspielern erschweren.
Fazit: "Call to Arms" bietet solide RTS-Elemente und eine ansprechende Grafik, leidet jedoch unter dem Mangel an Tutorials und einer begrenzten Spielerbasis. Für Interessierte ist die Investition in die kostenpflichtige Version empfehlenswert, um den vollen Spielumfang zu genießen. 3 von 5 Sternen.

ja und nein, hat seit 2021 keine Updates und Co bekommen.
Die deutsche Sprache ist etwas abhanden gekommen, könnte in den deutschen gern dabei sein.
CtA Gates to Hell gefällt mir dafür besser und wird auch gepflegt mit neuen Updates, Einheiten

Not gonna lie, I like this game. Call to Arms is hybrid RTS game, with open modding source, active gamebase and updates. Game includes alot of options with your units, like tanks, helis, infantry or IFVs. Scenarios are nicely made and skirmish is also enjoyable. Nothing more to say, this game is just a good one.
