If you're a gamer you don't need me to tell you that Cal of Duty 2 is the best call of of all time, you already know that and if you're a young and/or cheater you don't want to listen to me when I tell you.
Gameplay:
Call of Duty, the real legend.
Today we have story modes of 6 hours maximum, and it's clear that the devs don't give a damn, they're just doing it for the license, but they don't want to do it, and not only don't want to do it, they don't know how.
Call of Duty 2, a complete story mode that sends us right into the conflict and offers us the chance to experience a real story, not just 6 hours of blah, blah, blah that goes nowhere.
A little blah, a lot of fighting and conclusions, everybody is dead! Everything you need for a good WW2 story.
Memorable gameplay, the likes of which you don't see any more.
Today, when you approach a battle, you don't think about whether you're going to live or die; you just move forward and head-shoot isolated AIs.
In the real Call of, you come to a village and see enemies everywhere, you don't wonder whether you're going to live or die, you don't have time, they're everywhere.
THEY'RE EVERYWHERE AND I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH BULLETS IN MY GUN!!!!
And when you've killed them all, THEY COME BACK!!!
You step on them, but it doesn't matter, it makes less noise. They disappear when there are too many of them.
That's call of, a story that lasts, you get your money's worth and you get a real kick out of it.
You don't get harassed by cheaters and kids who insult everyone as soon as they get killed by another cheater.
kids don't know what call of is, activision devs don't know what call of is because when the real call of came out, they weren't born.
Today, they don't want story mode, they want multiplayer, and that's a shame. Rather than create another license for kids and cheaters, they'd rather send gamers packing, trashing our license to make money.
R.I.P Call of Duty

Excellent game, even better than the previous 2. Still the same campaign model as the first 2. A Soviet, British and American campaign, with a wide variety of missions. The OST is really excellent and the graphics have aged quite well.
Multiplayer was very good, but unfortunately you won't find many people playing it anymore.
I really recommend getting the Warchest edition to discover the 3 excellent games included in the pack.

"Sergeant Randall, the guns are gone! They're not here!"
"WHAT?"
"THE - GUNS - AREN'T - HERE! Krauts must've moved them someplace else!"

Such a classic gem! Was very lovely to revisit and thanks to the steam friend who gifted me this game. Had so much fun with a huge wave of nostalgia! A great game and I'll always remember how awesome it made me feel as a kid, it felt like you were playing with friends.
Though, Activision still hasn't learned how to price their old games (I'd recommend getting it on sale), very unfortunate (was thinking of getting COD4 MW but yeah, those horrible pricings) :(

I haven't played this game since it came out back in 2005. This review takes place 19 years after its release date.
Playing this back when it came out, the regenerating health was a novel concept and it was introduced in this game, and you are basically wolverine as in you can take a lot of damage and heal within 3 seconds of cover. At the time, the realism of this was rightfully questioned but this innovative design would become a staple of the series and for all similar games afterwards. That single gameplay mechanic means you can keep fighting and stay in combat without being Rambo. Truly amazing.
As a 2005 review, this game is immaculate and amazing, game of the year material. For 2024, this game is a short but pleasurable experience. I beat the game without realizing it, and the story is very threadbare. None of these things stop you from an incredible experience that makes you realize how great this game was when it released, and how well it stands up to modern times.
Towards the end of the game I was really taking advantage of smoke cover and spamming grenades. I remembered that the enemies do spawn almost endlessly in some parts if you don't advance. So, knowing this and not being ensconced by combat, I decided to take a much more tactical approach to my firefights. Instead of trying to headshot people and creep up I instead flanked them and made decisive maneuvers. This single tactic was very rewarding because I missed this back in the day, and flanking someone had real combat advantages.
The characters would say things like "machine gunner on the 1st floor" and "enemies to the west" which existed before this game, but this time I was smart enough to listen to teammates and expect them to be useful if I assisted them. That tactic worked so well. You have teammates in combat who can die and instead of trying to be billy b@d@$$ and trying to kill everything by myself, I assisted teammates and that effort was rewarded. Respecting the games gentle nudging is rewarded and feels rewarding.
I gotta say, this game is great. Part 1 is better, but thats not an insult because this game is nearly as awesome.

It's been close to 20 years since Call of Duty 2 released. I was working at EB Games and this game was on display and available to try out for the customers. The evenings were often dead, and I would spend much of that time working my way through this game, often in awe at the impressive gameplay, visuals and scripted events throughout the campaign. The action is intense and the sound effects really added to the immersion of fighting for our lives as either American, British or Soviet soldiers. The allied and enemy AI were quite advanced for the time, adding to the excitement of getting through a level. I replayed this game recently and it still holds up as one of my favourite Call of Duty games.

One of my all time favourite games!
It's old, it's sometimes clunky, but my goodness, is it fun to play.
This and the previous CoD were my introductions to multiplayer online gaming, and they will always have a special place in my heart
