Brutal Legend
Brütal Legend is an action-adventure that marries visceral action combat with open-world freedom. Set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap, it’s a fresh take on the action/driving genre, which in this case is full of imitation cover bands, demons intent on enslaving humanity and Heavy metal tunes. Featuring the talents of comedian, actor and musician, Jack Black as super roadie Eddie Riggs, as well as cameos by some of the biggest names in metal music it's a wild ride in the belly of the beast that is not to be missed by gamers and Metalheads alike. The vivid and wildly creative world of Brütal Legend is brought to life through a spate of chrome, leather, rocker babes, epic music, fire-breathing/stud-wearing beasts, mountains made of guitar amps, and more. Follow Eddie as he embarks on a tour of epic destruction with an axe, a guitar, and his minions as he commands the power of rock in epic band battles. It’s lighter-flicking awesomeness that will melt your face clean off.

This game deserved 5 sequels and a movie series - all of which involving Jack Black. You can't convince me this isn't one of the best stories of all time. The action, the dialogue, the MUSIC. Holds up all these years later. Pure perfection.

Look it isn't perfect, it's not very hard, it has some pacing issues, and even a little buggy.
But its got great music, a unique timeless type of look and good voice acting.
It's hard to describe but you really want to give it a chance!

First played this on the ps3 yearsss ago, it's a nostalgic game for me. Jack Black did such a good job with Eddie, and the voice lines across many characters is hilarious. Still ripping they never made a sequel cause it would have been double fiiiine.

Classic game for metalheads. Jack Black brings a lot of his humor to the game. Ozzy and Lemmy join the cast of characters. It's a fun hack and slash with good tunes. My only gripe is they haven't made a part 2 or remake.

Overall, it's a game that you can play while your friends backseat play and laugh at. By far not a masterpiece, but it's more than serviceable as something you can play for an hour or two at a time.
First, the good shit.
- The soundtrack is stacked. Diamond Head, Rotting Christ, Deathstars, KMFDM, if you can think of a band then they most likely have a song in the game.
- The combat is enjoyable if you want to just annihilate hordes of monsters, but don't expect some Devil May Cry type combat considering how casual the game is.
- The artstyle also reminds me of some Saturday morning cartoon with imagery borrowing heavily from different metal and alt subgenres.
- The inclusion of Jack Black as the main character didn't really detract from the game in my opinion. His chemistry with most of the characters and cameos are the highlights of the game.
Now, the bad shit.
- The level structure is repetitive as it is linear. There's no way to play a mission differently, and you have to go from one bland open-world area to the next to do another mission. The side quests help a bit with that, but not enough to go out of your way to do them.
- The RTS shit. The strategy missions can easily turn what should be a 10 minute level into a 30-45 minute one. The worst part is that they're mandatory to progress the story, which can easily make any enjoyment from the game come to a grinding halt.
- The visual bugs. Granted, it's a game from 2013 and I'm sure that there's some workarounds, but it might be a turnoff to some.
10/10. The Zaulia are hot and I want Rima to step on me.

Played it on the steam deck with 60fps capped.
The game runs great, but is clearly outdated in terms of gameplay and quality of life features from a more modern game, some of which you might notice immediately. Funnily enough, this was actually a AAA game at that time given its budget allocation.
+ Voice acting - Brilliant, everything does an excellent job brining the characters to life.
+ Well done campaign - the set of missions that you do to progress the story had structure.
+ Gameplay - Fun for first few hours, has the ambition to be a hack and slash, but not there yet.
+ World design - Pretty vivid, wasn't expecting the variety. That's something not mentioned, but it's a full on open world game.
- Graphics - this should be obvious - pretty dated.
- Certain gameplay loops - can get tedious, especially towards the end of the game.
- World traversal and collectibles, traversal and side quests are just a waste of time honestly - but it's there for the completionists.
All in all, it's a neat 10 hr game if you ever wanna try it out.

An awesome experience, but can't call it a proper game unfortunately.
I had a lot of fun listening to music, voice lines and watching world-building around the history, but gameplay really lacks a lot...
RTS elements feel rushed and lacks a lot of proper vision on troops, no mini-map and overall input that they actually do something. I don't know how others felt, but whenever my troops where attacking a tower or a stage, it felt like they're not doing any damage at all. Even worse, during late phase of the game, the difficulty increased artificially and it felt too hard to try sometimes, and I feel like I've finished the game because I cheese'd my way through last two big fights.
It could've been an amazing game if they'd have focused on Hack'n'slash elements, because music, atmosphere made the game great, but fighting lacks a lot.
In summary, leaving RTS in favour of making Hack'n'slash better would've been better decision, but I understand they wanted to experiment - but it didn't work and we have a mix-mash of two genres that when not polished - feels not fun and not rewarding.
Still, I recommend to try out because it's fun because of the characters and world-building! Gonna probably replay on PS3 sometime soon.
