In the world of Lies of P, there is a well-known in-game currency system that makes it an integral part of the gameplay in this hardcore role-playing universe. This versatile in-game currency is used for purchasing items, upgrading weapons and equipment, and developing your character. In this world, it is referred to as "Ergo." It serves as the lifeblood of marionettes and is considered a true treasure for players. In this guide, we will explore some effective ways to accumulate Ergo in the early stages of the game while minimizing risks.
At first glance, collecting Ergo may seem quite straightforward. After all, it's simply a matter of defeating enemies, and therefore, the more enemies you defeat, the more Ergo you obtain, right? However, reality proves to be more complex than it may seem. Engaging in combat with enemies can result not only in their demise but also in the death of your character, leading to the loss of all accumulated Ergo. Let's examine several methods to increase your level and accumulate more Ergo while minimizing risks.
Where to Find Ergo
Ergo is the primary currency in the world of Lies of P. You can obtain it by selling unnecessary items to traders, but the primary source remains the destruction of enemies. The amount of Ergo you receive depends on the difficulty and type of the enemy. Killing regular marionettes typically yields a small amount of Ergo, while bosses and elite enemies generously reward you with this currency.
Usually, regular enemies yield around 30-100 Ergo per kill. This, of course, is insufficient for purchasing expensive items or enhancing your character. However, conducting a full area clearance by eliminating all enemies can allow you to accumulate a much larger amount of Ergo. Nevertheless, exercise caution during your adventures, as all collected Ergo will be lost upon your character's death. You will have only one chance to retrieve it by picking it up at the death location. Remember that upon a subsequent death, all accumulated Ergo will disappear forever.
Best Route for Ergo Farming in the Early Game
The most efficient and safe way to farm Ergo in Lies of P is by clearing the area around the starship. After each clearance, you can return to the starship to respawn the enemies in the area and continue accumulating Ergo. This method is particularly useful in the early stages of the game, especially in the vicinity of Krat Central Station. The starship is located right next to the station exit.
Don't forget to rest at the starship and eliminate all enemies in the area. Your goal is to completely clear the territory between the station exit and Serasani Alley, where you will find the Wandering Merchant—the first merchant from whom you can buy items before facing a boss.
For a full area clearance, you can expect to receive approximately 1700-2000 Ergo. Additionally, there's always a chance to receive extra Ergo fragments from defeated enemies, which yield between 100 to 300 Ergo each.
In case of an unexpected death, you will respawn at the last starship you used and will have the opportunity to retrieve the lost Ergo. The enemies in this area are not too formidable, but exercise caution with enemies armed with rifles or shotguns, as they deal significant damage. Keep an eye on them and handle them with confidence.
Which Characteristics to Enhance First
Once you have accumulated the necessary amount of Ergo, you can decide how to spend your resources—whether to enhance your character through the starship or to purchase items. From the Wandering Merchant, you can acquire additional weapons and various consumables that will be useful for your development or for battling bosses.
In the early stages of the game, the best strategy is to invest Ergo in enhancing the following characteristics:
Health: Increasing this characteristic will raise your health points and its regeneration rate.
Energy: Boosting this characteristic will increase your stamina and overall defense.
Motivation/Technique: Choose the one that suits your weapon better to increase its damage.
After reaching Krat Hotel, you will be able to spend Ergo and level up your character only through dialogue with Sophia.
