The first Assassin's Creed" is a remarkable game that introduces a unique character control system through a puppeteer concept. However, unfortunately, in the second installment of the series, despite the addition of new mechanics, the gameplay became more simplified and lost some key elements, including counterattacks and new features like "desh" and grabs. Interestingly, Ubisoft began to reduce the capabilities of this system during the development of the first part, fearing that the game might be too complex for a wide audience. Nevertheless, even the first part proved to be challenging for many players, making it difficult for them to control the character, perform parkour, and engage in combat. Instead of improving the mechanics, subsequent parts of the game leaned towards simplifying the puppeteer system.
Today, there may not be as many active players in this game, which is regrettable because many players may not fully understand the game's mechanics. In this article, we will explore some of them.
Parkour
In the game, you can use parkour by pressing the "Shift" key. However, it is worth noting that the parkour system does not always work equally well in different parts of the game. For example, when jumping from beam to beam while holding "Shift," the character will perform a leap over the obstacle instead of jumping onto it. You can also perform a rapid descent from a great height and execute a roll, although specific key combinations may vary.
Combat System
To learn the basic moves of the game's combat system, you can visit the arena. However, pay attention to some less obvious aspects. The hidden blade allows you to perform counterattacks that are effective against any enemies. After successfully evading with daggers in hand and executing a quick attack at the right moment, you can instantly eliminate the target, excluding bosses.
Counterattacks performed in response to powerful enemy strikes offer a choice of actions: you can push away, kill, or break the legs depending on the keys you press. The sword is best suited for offense, while the dagger is for defense. The sword delivers powerful blows and works effectively with combinations like "strike-desh-strike" and similar ones in one-on-one combat.
The strategic point is to activate the block at the last moment before the enemy's attack to prevent them from breaking your block. Acting in this way, it's best to maintain a high guard stance, which also allows for quick movement. Additionally, the system of vulnerable enemies enables you to quickly dispatch them with a hidden blade when they are in a weakened state or taunting you.
It's also worth noting that the hidden blade can be used simultaneously with other weapons. This allows you to quickly switch to the hidden blade during combat to perform evasions, although you should remember to switch back to your previous weapon after using it. This also allows for effective elimination of enemies who are caught off guard. As an additional tip, consider that guards may become weakened after repeated attacks, providing an opportunity to defeat the entire group.
Other Gameplay Aspects
It's important to note that it's possible to clear an area of archers and guards, which can improve mission progression by reducing the number of interfering enemies. You can also control your character after being pushed by enemies by rolling into a more advantageous position. For a better gaming experience, it's recommended to disable the interface, explore the world using the map, and keep track of the number of available knives, as the interface can be distracting.
If you encounter performance issues with the game on modern computers, try enabling vertical synchronization to improve optimization.
