Your darkest fears will awaken in these woods. It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods…

So, I recently finished this game on stream and, at the same time, rewatched the first Blair Witch Project movie (1999). So now it’s time to talk about the game. Took me about 7 hours to beat it - and that’s with getting lost in the damn forest a bunch of times, ‘cause it’s ridiculously easy to lose your way in there.
The game was made by the Polish studio Bloober Team - same guys behind Layers of Fear, The Medium, and the Silent Hill 2 Remake. And yeah, you can definitely feel the indie vibe in some spots, but overall, it turned out to be a really atmospheric, intense, and sometimes trippy experience.
There’s way more content here than in the first movie. The film was basically people running around in the woods with some tense moments. The game, though, gives you a personal story, more supernatural stuff, and a bunch of freaky events to deal with.
One thing I liked is the non-linear approach. There are two endings (maybe a bit more if you count minor story changes). I ended up with the bad one, which turns out to be the canon ending. Getting the good one apparently requires playing a completely different way — which honestly sounds like a solid reason for a second run.
As for the creepy atmosphere, tension, and mind games — they nailed it. The ending hits hard, even made me jump a couple of times. Though, to be fair, I’d trim down the action in the finale a little. The jump scares and chaos get a bit overwhelming by the end, and you kinda get tired of it. If I were the devs, I’d balance that part better. But hey — it is what it is.
If I gave the movie a 7, then for this one - since it’s a game and the criteria are a bit different — I’m giving it a solid 8/10. It’s got nice visuals, great sound design, an intriguing plot, and of course, Bullet the dog, who’s a total bro. Loved the interactions with him. Plus, you get a bit more lore about the Blair Witch universe, which was super lacking in the first film. As for the second and third movies - heard they’re pretty meh (4 and 5 out of 10), so still debating whether I’ll watch them… maybe for a laugh.
Anyway - I totally recommend the game. You don’t even need to see the movie to enjoy it. It’s self-contained and explains enough of what’s going on by itself.

Just finished this game for my first playthrough and it is the best horror experience I have ever played, it broke my mind. I 1000% recommend this to anyone that wants to feel terrified in the woods.

As a Blair Witch super fan, I feel very blessed that we got such a good game that adds another exciting chapter to the Blair Witch legend. The scenery in this game is amazing, the story is fantastic and the level design is brilliant. Really makes you feel as though you are lost in the Black Hills Forest. I'm also a fan of horror games that have some form of utilities to make use of without making you feel overwhelmed and this game hits the sweet spot with Bullet, your walkie talkie, cell phone, flashlight and the camera. It adds a level a immersion and makes it more than just a walking simulator without feeling like you have too much to manage. Highly recommend.

After spending 120+ hours fully completing Blair Witch, unlocking all achievements, and watching every ending, I can confidently say this is one of the most immersive psychological horror experiences ever. The atmosphere is tense, with eerie visuals and a constant sense of dread that never fades. The sound design and dynamic lighting make the forest feel alive, and Bullet, your canine companion, adds an emotional layer rarely seen in horror games. While pacing can be slow at times, the game excels at psychological storytelling, making every moment unsettling yet gripping. A must-play for horror fans.
Pros:
Incredible atmosphere with a deep psychological horror feel
Stunning sound design that enhances immersion
Multiple endings that add replay value
Bullet the dog makes for a unique and emotional companion
Cons:
Pacing can feel slow in certain sections
Some mechanics can be repetitive over time
Overall Score: 7.5/10

The Blair Witch was a surprise. I did not the expect the game to be that good. It has a decently good story that changes per playthrough and some good scares. Overall its short and worth the price on sale.

In my opinion, this is a good game, but it has some faults.
It's incredibly short with one playthrough only taking around three hours to complete. Additionally, there is an absurd amount of collectibles that the developers just added to pad the playtime.
Best part is the dog you're with, Bullet, and the atmosphere which really feels Blair Witchy.
Give this game a try if it's on sale!

After playing their banger Silent Hill 2 Remake, I wanted to give this a try. I really wanted to like this game and it started off promising but I didn't really enjoy this. Bullet and his mechanics were done perfectly though. I loved the dog so much and the entire first part in the woods was great with stunning visuals and good atmosphere.
However, after reaching the sawmill I truly couldn't enjoy this anymore. Too much talking, way too much of this entire war trauma stuff. The annoying phone calls with the wife, the whispering witch, the antagonist talking endlessly. All atmosphere was gone for me and the last part in the ruined building was driving me crazy. Darkness, constant heavy breathing, repeating tasks and it just went on forever reusing the exact same textures and assets. It would have been fine but not that long because all I cared about was the dog that was suddenly unimportant in the game.
I might enjoy this more in a second playthrough but the first time felt too much like a chore to complete. Also, I would have loved to explore the forest. It could have been more open world, less invisible walls and for the love of God, add a compass.
I constantly had the feeling that the game was rushing me. There were many different types of collectibles but I never really had that rewarding feeling of getting them all because the plot, while being slow and dragged out, was still pushing me along. Overall not a good experience.
EDIT: changed my review to positive after getting the supposed good ending. It's a pain in the neck to get but actually, after a total of three playthroughs, I can see how much care and thought went into this game so I can no longer just say that I'm not recommeding this.
