the GameWhere do we go after we die? And more importantly, what do we eat?
In Bear’s Restaurant, you play as a little cat who just landed a job at the afterlife’s coziest eatery. As the lone waiter assisting the friendly bear who owns the joint, it’s your job to greet the newly deceased, take their orders, and deliver them each a final meal to help their souls rest in peace.
The only problem is, the clientele here come from all walks of death, and in many cases, they’re awfully indecisive. In order to help send these weary spirits to their final destinations, it’ll be your job to dive into their memories and try to decipher what their last suppers should be. In doing so, you’ll get to see firsthand how they lived, how they died, and what foods left the deepest impressions on them while they were alive.
Bear’s Restaurant is a game that’s touched the hearts of players all around the globe, and this new-and-improved definitive version features all of the content from the original game, plus an all-new epilogue chapter that’s sure to answer those lingering questions.
If it’s epic battles, mind-bending puzzles, or state-of-the-art cutscenes you’re after, you won’t find them here. But if you’re in the mood for a shorter, more wholesome experience—one that’ll fill your heart like a home-cooked meal you’ll remember for years to come—look no further.

This game was made with so much heart :)
It's a little reminiscent of Undertale, but there's no combat which means it's a much cozier and relaxed game. It was also surprisingly much longer than I anticipated! (Important to note that about half of my play time was idling, however.)
If you've been sleeping on this game, I'd highly recommend trying it out <3

This is a short and sweet game. The storyline was very touching, also it works like a dream on the steamdeck ♥

I thought it was a cute little game about a bear running a restaurant — but what I actually got was a beautiful, heartfelt, emotional gut-punch that made me cry. A soul-shattering journey through grief, loss, and the bittersweet beauty of memories. Every dish served came with a side of feels — highly recommend.
10/10, suggest having tissues nearby.

Bear’s Restaurant isn’t a game you “play” so much as one you feel. It’s short, quiet, and absolutely loaded with emotion—like a warm cup of coffee shared with an old friend you’ll never see again.
You take the role of a cat working alongside a kindly bear in a mysterious restaurant in the afterlife. Your task? Serving the last meals of the departed—whatever they loved most in life. These meals unlock their stories, each one a tiny glimpse into a life once lived, complete with regrets, joys, and sometimes gut-punch sadness.
Highlights include:
Touching, minimalist storytelling that packs a surprising emotional punch.
A unique concept: food as memory, and memory as closure.
Subtle but lovely pixel art and a beautiful soundtrack that supports the bittersweet mood.
A surprisingly thought-provoking narrative that touches on love, loss, suicide, and what it means to say goodbye.
With about 3-4 hours in length, you will enjoy every minute of this narrative-driven experience.
TL;DR
Bear’s Restaurant isn’t about winning. It’s about understanding. And remembering. Highly recommended for those who want to feel something real in a quiet corner of the afterlife.

i absolutely love everything from Odencat. Meg's Monster has skyrocketed to my top 10 list, Snowman Story is just beautiful, and this game, while i'm still not done yet, just absolutely nails what i've been looking for in games the last few years. i cannot wait to see what they do next and i'll update this review once i finish the game

Cute! Very purely narrative game. I think it handles its themes earnestly and I appreciate the contrasts it draws to solidify them.

Got this game as a gift from a friend and I'll be honest, I wish I had played it sooner. Although the game was small I really did enjoy it.
In terms of what I liked about it. I think the topics that were focused on were handled with care and respect. I do like the fact that the game did not shy away from serious topics. I like the concept of a last meal for these people to get comfort in some way before they go to heaven. I also like the fact that most of the characters did have some development to them.
At the same time I wish some characters had more development like the mother for example which I feel maybe should have been a DLC in itself (like maybe how the mother got to see her daughter grow up from the afterlife, about how her daughter's death also affected her, how maybe she wished she could do things with her daughter and husband like maybe seeing her say her first word, seeing her take her first steps, running the restaurant together, go on picnics with them or even picking up her daughter with her husband from school and finally maybe how she wanted to meet them again now that they were both here and how she wanted to continue the restaurant in the in between with them). Besides that I feel like maybe the mother should have had a file too which maybe should have been hidden and the dad's file maybe should have said that it is believed that she is in heaven waiting for her husband and daughter (as it felt like an inconsistency when it said she is in heaven but when you hear the mother's side of the story she says she went to hell to punish herself).
I also to a small extent wish we could have managed the restaurant in hell as that was an interesting concept too. Maybe serve those who were redeemed just before they go to the gates (like the assassin guy who I also liked).
All in all though besides a few of the characters (like the mother, the devil on the train, the door and even the ferryman who i loved and wish i could have seen more of) needing more development and a few minor inconsistencies, I do recommend that you give the game a shot (and be ready for the tears cause they have quite a few moments that make you wanna cry).
Also I do hope that we can maybe get a second game like this at some point from the devs too (fingers crossed).
