It's a very bare-bones buggy racing game, but it's surprisingly fun. Not sure why there isn't more games like this.

I was looking for a fun Arcade Racer and BAJA: Edge Of Control is just the game i was hoping to find. I am seriously bored with the market flooded with Sim Racing titles. You ask me Sim racing is for the birds.
Those games cannot hold a candle to the good old arcade racers. Arcade Racers are simply too much fun. Maybe Sim Racer Fans need an expensive steering wheel first to be able to "handle" FUN! xD
Anyhow BAJA is just plain amazing to play. Apart from the controls setup which is a sad excuse and still feels like a console game got quickly ported to the pc. But once you set the controls up and get a few races done to get the hang of things you are in for a great time.

100% recommended. Lots of arcade fun but also hidden depths if you want to get into that.

One of my all-time favorite racing games. There hasn't been a game released since that does so well with suspension physics. Still holds up.

I always loved the original game and was glad to get a key for this game for relatively cheap. It's definitely worth it with ok graphics, but satisfying game play and physics. Career can be slightly repetitive but rallies and baja rallies are a fun event type. My biggest issue is that the game will randomly crash on event start or finish. I do not know if this is a hardware or software issue so this doesn't weigh on my review.

Super fun to play. The online play works only sometimes so getting online play time is kinda hard

There is a reason this random mid racing game from 2008 with a veneer of shovelware got a remaster. It's more than the sum of it's parts.
It's a basic racer with a unique physics model that feels really good when it doesn't randomly flip out and send you flying. Hitting a series of bumps perfectly at the correct speed/angle and tuning that you glide through them like nothing, looking at the shocks and springs doing their work is immensely satisfying.
But, collision is an issue, tied with bad AI tuning.
Hitting obstacles either stop you dead or send you tumbling. Cars variously collide and clip through each other.
Whatever is going on with the AI, it's more than simple rubber banding (but it has that too). If you're doing well in a league, the game is going to generate an AI routine which is impossible beat for one race. It will be impossible to pass them. They will stick so rigidly to their paths they will push you out of the way, power up steep hills with black engine smoke, take hairpin turns at max speed, and so on. But then, after you take your loss for that race, the AI goes back to normal. A middle ground would be nice.
It's a sharp looking game with a decent variety of kinda bland environments. The most interesting are the areas with narrow canyons or human-made buildings and small rivers. Performance is very good, never dropping below my global 160 FPS cap.
I'm kind of impressed the developers managed to retain all of the licensing from the original. I would have expected something like this to have them replaced with generic alternatives.
The licensed music sucks. Play your own unless you like the most inoffensive butt rock the mid aughts had to offer.
Issues aside, worthwhile bundled or on sale.
