Post-apocalyptic indie game, inspired by classic CRPGs: Fallout, System Shock, Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate and many others. In 1986 both the Soviet Union and the Western Bloc were destroyed in mutual nuclear bombings. You are one of the survivors of the nuclear Holocaust. Your mission – to explore the wild and wondrous world of the Soviet Wasteland. To earn your place under the sun. And to investigate a shadowy conspiracy, aimed at destroying all that is left of life on Earth.

ATOM RPG does a great job of modernizing the early Fallout experience, but, like with Fallout 1, you're either going to get into it and enjoy it for a while or the game will go out of it's way to screw you over and you'll want to put it down before too long. I think I'm in the latter camp right now. (I remember having very similar experiences with Fallout 1 and the only time I've actually been able to get anywhere in that was when I played it for the very first time.)
The combat in this is profoundly unsatisfying and the game has a tendency to force you into "no-win" situations far to frequently. I have to fight my way through a cave of wolves that are way above my ability, so instead I give up and head to the bunker. I run into a fight where I was jumped by three guys with automatic weapons. I can give up all my stuff or basically get gunned down. Mkay cool, so no matter what I do I either die and quit or lose all my stuff and start from scratch. This after putting up with the game's crap up till this point and struggling to get some amount of gear, because at this point the best I have is a pipe rifle and some rusty Makarovs that constantly jam and a knife or two. I haven't come across a single other proper weapon to buy or loot yet and I've been to what feels like the entirety of the known wastes. Anyway... I save scum a bit and discover that I can hide some of my stuff beforehand and I manage to keep at least the pipe rifle, some food and meds and my clothes, but have to give up most of my other stuff in order to progress or I just die. To be fair, this isn't the only time the game pulled this kinda crap as the exact same thing happens at the very beginning of the game.
Companions are also fscking useless in fights. I handed Fidel, one of the companions early on, a gun an he shot me dead in the back of my head no less than 3 times causing me to lose a lot of progress. The only solution I've found is to revoke his ranged weapon ability by taking my rusty Makarov back. Oh did I mention that when shooting the enemy he doesn't get nearly as many crits as he seemingly gets on me when shooting me in the head.
Anyway... so I think the systems in the game are pretty cool, the writing is good, the setting is quite interesting, and I have enjoyed the game thus far but I think if you want the player to become invested you either have to give them more opportunity to get stocked up or... maybe lower the challenge a bit early on so that they don't just get gunned down by overpowered automatic guns at every corner. Fundamentally I like the idea of working my way up from nothing, but if you're just gonna pull crap like that later on in the game what's the point? Also I'm not the type of player that just rushes headlong into the next objective, I really have been to many places around the wastes and have found... all of exactly nothing as a reward for my efforts. Which, to be fair, maybe I'm just profoundly unlucky... but still.
I'd recommend it if you liked the early Fallout games, but... don't expect a smooth jouney.

A hidden jewel. It's like playing a game at the same-time reading a really good book!
The game has been updated so much unlike during it's 1st few years.

The game went on too long for me (and I played it at 3x timescale whenever possible because good lord you move slow as s**t) it is clearly made by people who understood the assignment when it comes to calling Fallout an inspiration. There's some real passion on display here held up by a game that is truly impressive for its combination of small team and big ideas.
ATOMRPG is probably the best it could have been. I'm not sure how much I enjoyed this, personally, as the bonkers translation really held it back. One particular quest conversation was a straight up Smashmouth song, which caused me to enable cheats for the last five hours of play. I figured if the game wasn't going to take itself seriously anymore, then I wouldn't either. I crushed a walkthrough for the last few hours because I was well and truly over it by that point.
Main quest is perfectly serviceable. I sort of recall maybe two sidequests. The locations all sort of blended together visually, although they served different and distinct purposes within the story.
Creature and character design is what it is. Variety isn't too much on offer here. At the same time though I thought the combat system was terrific. Fights where I would get completely wiped would turn into a puzzle I could figure out between positioning and targeted shots. Control over the occasional companion during combat itself was limited but this wasn't a bother to me as dialogue between fights offers a lot of customizing their combat style. Would have liked them to situationally switch weapons on their own but hey.
The UI was also quite nice - but long-click to get to the context menu was a pain, and should have been switched to right click (for lockpicking, pickpocket, etc). I appreciated the small flavor text window but there could have been so much more done with it (Wasteland 2 is an excellent example of this, however the budgets between the games are night and day).
Recommended for fans of Fallout, Wasteland, the Cold War, the Soviet Union, turn-based combat. Even one, or more of those things. The price is right and there's good value for your dollar.
There's a handful of people over in eastern Europe who put heart and work into this. The idea they get a check for it every now and then is something which I encourage us all to continue.

Atom RPG feels like a spiritual successor to the first two "Fallout" games. There is a lot of reading in it, but much of that writing is interesting and well-done. Sometimes, especially early on, the combat can feel unfair, but once one gains their bearings and learns the mechanics, it's a fun, challenging RPG. It could use some QoL features, particularly the ability to add notes to maps and indicating locations of quest NPC's on said maps, but for the price, I recommend this game to anyone who liked "Fallout 1 and 2" or just enjoys turn-based RPG's in general.

Good aesthetic. Interesting characters and setting, not masterpiece level, but it's very good if you like post-nuclear wastelands. If you're new to this kind of game (like Fallout 1 and 2) it can be a little esoteric how you're supposed to navigate combat and allocate your skill points, or even if there is a clear route of progression. Sometimes I felt like I went earlier into situations which I wasn't prepared for at all, and probably also because how of the game is structured (Roaring Forest). I haven't played Trudograd. This is one of the better crpg games I've played. Although, I feel like either the progression system could have been better. I did have the feeling like no matter how far I got or how much I leveled, it was often one-shotted in combat and had difficulty progressing forward organically.

An interesting role-playing game in the spirit of Fallout, maybe there are not so many variations, but the number of quests, characters and locations is enough for 1-2 plays, if your character is not suitable for everything. (and it can be edited).
Also there is almost no karma, so there is no crime in the wastelands if there are no laws!

If you like fallout interplay days, then look no further. Do not miss out on this gem of a game. Outstanding work by the team.
