This game has been exactly what I've been looking for. It's nicer than wargroove, and has more content than advance wars. It makes me happy to see this genre of game still being made

This game is an absolute gem. After the disappointment that was Advance Wars Reboot Camp, Athena Crisis finally got me back into turn-based strategy. The high variety of units, specifically infantry and naval, is especially welcome.
Building construction helps distinguish the maps greatly and gives more strategic options in the early game. Building destruction helps keep the game moving and allows non-footsoldier units to directly affect each player's income without requiring infantry nearby.
Battle animations happen directly on the map, rather than in a new window. While this does eliminate the charm of these window animations as seen in Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, it undoubtedly speeds the game up.
The developer is open to all sorts of ideas, balance changes, and critiques. Multiple skills and powers were originally suggested by community members, and someone even drew up a new unit that's going to be added! Just join the Discord.
Kindly note that this game is actually in Early Access, so many units don't have descriptions, multiple skills/powers are unbalanced, there's no official tutorial, and some editing tools are still not available yet.

Decent Advance Wars inspired game and will scratch the itch. More into the single player aspect, so I am looking forward to the full campaign, but I like what I've seen so far. Happy with the performance on the Steam Deck.
Some things I hope to see be added for the full release:
Battle animations,
Harder difficulty,
Some tweaks to UI so that it's clearer how far my unit can go after it's exhausted it's turn
More details in the about section for the units.

If you love Advance Wars, you'll absolutely love this!
The music, art, and vibes are absolutely wonderful. The gameplay is snappy and the strategy is pretty well tuned. There's currently a prequel campaign that lasts about 3 hours. The real fun of the game is the custom map builder which you can build maps and even full campaigns.
There's also a full online component where you can play against bots or other players.
Overall, I can highly recommend this game for any fan of tactics game!

Excellent iteration on the advance wars formula that is unafraid to re-think things (no more desperately fast-forwarding cut-away battle sequences!). Also works across all platforms, which is pretty cool!

This game is the most faithful adaptation of Advance Wars I've played. I love it so much!
